How to play roblox on vr oculus quest 2

Currently, you can play Roblox via VR if you own a gaming PC and a supported VR headset. However, a rumored announcement is teasing an entirely different, more immersive gaming experience via the Meta Quest 2.

Bloxy News, devoted to all things Roblox, tweeted that the popular world-building game would be coming to the metaverse soon and that an official announcement was forthcoming. 

Now mind you, there have been no official announcements from either the folks at Roblox or Meta, and regardless of the use of the word "officially" in the Bloxy News Tweet, it makes absolute sense for there to be a version for the Quest 2 that doesn't require being connected to a PC.

The idea of a native Roblox for Quest 2 and the metaverse makes sense and it is well known that the makers of the game have been drooling over the idea of bringing the game to the metaverse ever since it became a publically traded entity in 2021. I have to admit I am very intrigued, especially since my daughter dragged me into Roblox a few years back only to abandon me mid-game leaving me to explore the world alone, and it was entertaining. 

The fun part about Roblox is you can choose to play established games or create an entirely new world using built-in tools that are at your disposal. When you're done having fun creating your own world you can travel through worlds created by friends, family, or other creatives. It's not a bad way to spend a rainy afternoon. The idea of doing so in a native Quest app that is even more immersive does appeal to me and we will keep you in the loop once we hear more. 

• Roblox isn’t available as a Quest or Quest 2 game, so you need to connect your headset to a PC using a link cable. 
• Once you’re connected, you can enable VR from the Roblox setting menu.
• If that doesn't work, install and run SteamVR to enable VR in Roblox.

This article explains how to play Roblox on the Meta (Oculus) Quest and Quest 2 virtual reality headsets. Since Roblox isn’t available as a Quest or Quest 2 game, you need a VR-ready PC and a link cable to connect the PC to your Quest.

You can play Roblox on Quest and Quest 2, but only with a workaround. Roblox isn’t automatically available in VR, so you need to use the headset in Oculus Link Mode. In this case, you connect the Quest to a PC with a link cable, a special kind of high-quality USB-C cable. You can use the official Quest link cable or any compatible third-party cord. Roblox runs on your PC, and the PC sends data to the Quest through the link cable, which allows you to play Roblox in virtual reality.

Here’s how to play Roblox on your Quest or Quest 2:

1. In the Oculus app on your computer, click Devices.

2. Click Add Headset.

3. Select Quest or Quest 2, and click Continue.

4. Connect your Quest or Quest 2 to your computer with a link cable, and click Continue.

5. Click Continue.

6. Click Close.

7. On your headset, look for a data access prompt and either allow or deny the request.

   You can safely deny, as it won’t affect this process at all.

8. On the headset, select Enable.

9. In the Oculus app, click Settings.

10. Click General.

11. Enable Unknown Sources.

12. Locate a Roblox game that supports VR, and click the play button.

13. If the Roblox game doesn't launch in VR mode, open the settings and select VR.

If you have successfully linked your Quest or Quest 2 to your PC, and you’re playing Roblox in a virtual desktop mode on the headset, but you don’t see an option to enable VR, there are a handful of potential issues.

• The world doesn’t support VR: Not all Roblox games support VR, and the ones that do might not support Quest headsets. If you don’t see the VR option in the in-game settings menu, try a different Roblox world.
• You have an old or beta version of Roblox: Try uninstalling Roblox and downloading it again directly from the Roblox site. It may also help to install the app as an administrator if you have that ability.
• You may need Steam VR: Try using your Quest with Steam VR. Link your Quest or Quest to your PC using the instructions provided above, but launch SteamVR before you perform step 15. Once Steam VR is running, you can launch the Roblox game of your choice, and it will automatically open on your Quest in VR mode.
