Captain America's Uniforms are uniforms used by Captain America with a design representative of the United States of America. The uniforms were primarily used by Steve Rogers as the first Captain America. After his retirement, John Walker became the second Captain America and was given a uniform. Following Walker's demotion, Sam Wilson became the third Captain America, and was given a Captain America version of the EXO-7 Falcon by the Wakandan Design Group.
In alternate universes, Captain Carter's Uniform was created with a design representative of the United Kingdom to be used by Peggy Carter for her superhero exploits as Captain Carter.

History
USO Costume
"You know for the longest time, I dreamed about coming overseas and being on the front lines. Serving my country. I finally get everything I wanted, and I'm wearing tights."―Steve Rogers to Peggy Carter[src]
Steve Rogers becomes Captain America
Shortly following undergoing the procedure that turned him into a super soldier, Steve Rogers was denied the chance to serve on the battlefields of World War II. Instead, he was offered and accepted a position working with the USO, performing in stage shows to sell war bonds to promote the war. As part of his performance the USO created the image and identity of Captain America to serve as a mascot and symbol of pride for the American people to rally behind and increase support for the war-front. Captain Rogers wore this costume in a number of stage shows in cities across America, as well as in a number of other images and iconography, including a number of fictionalized film reels of "Captain America" leading troops in the war, to help increase morale.
Original Field Uniform
"You're keeping the outfit, right?"
"You know what? It's kind of growing on me."―Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers[src]
Captain America's original uniform was an ad hoc uniform adapted from the costume that he wore in his USO productions. To make the costume less conspicuous and more combat worthy, Steve Rogers borrowed the "A" helmet from one of the Star Spangled Singers along with a combat leather jacket, pants, boots and googles. He used it in his mission to save Bucky Barnes and a battalion of P.O.W.s that had been captured by HYDRA.
Strategic Scientific Reserve Field Uniform
"I had some ideas about the uniform."
"Whatever you want, pal."―Steve Rogers and Howard Stark[src]
Steve Rogers wearing the SSR uniform during World War II
Captain America's second uniform was made by Howard Stark. The uniform was made of a carbon polymer flame-resistant jacket, a pair of custom fitted blue-dyed paratrooper trousers, a bulletproof helmet with a wings motif, rigged combat gloves for extra grip, a utility belt and a handgun holster, combined with with a shield of vibranium for Steve Rogers to protect himself from gunfire.
Rogers used the shield and wore the uniform in all of his attacks on enemy facilities and other missions. He had the shield with him when he crashed in the Arctic Circle and was frozen. Nearly 70 years later, S.H.I.E.L.D. stumbled across the crash site of Captain America's plane. He was found alive, wearing the suit.
By 2024, another version of the uniform was produced and displayed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum for their updated Captain America exhibit.
First Avengers Uniform
"I almost forgot that that suit did nothing for your ass."―Tony Stark to Steve Rogers[src]
Steve Rogers looking at his new uniform
S.H.I.E.L.D. created a new uniform for Steve Rogers' return, with Phil Coulson providing certain design inputs, feeling an "old fashioned" appearance was needed to inspire others. The suit was a more streamlined version of Captain America's SSR uniform, incorporating a high-tech blast resistant stretch fabric serving as body armor.
Steve Rogers wearing the suit in the Battle of New York
In 2012, when Rogers was called to join the Avengers, he was given the suit, and they were able to take Loki into custody. He donned the suit during his entire stay on the Helicarrier, and continued wearing the suit during the Chitauri attack on New York City. Sometime afterwards, Captain America wore the suit for his public service announcement videos.
Steve Rogers wearing the suit during the Time Heist
In 2023, during the Time Heist, Rogers wore this uniform under his Advanced Tech Suit when he traveled to an alternate 2012 timeline in order to disguise himself as his 2012 self. Shortly after retrieving the Scepter, he fought his 2012 self, who was also wearing the suit. After traveling to an alternate 1970 timeline, he removed his Avengers uniform in order to infiltrate Camp Lehigh. Following the completion of his mission, Rogers returned to his timeline without his Avengers uniform, thus abandoning it in the alternate 1970 timeline.
By 2024, another version of the uniform was produced and displayed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum for their updated Captain America exhibit.
STRIKE Stealth Uniform
Steve Rogers in the Stealth Uniform on the Lemurian Star
In 2014, Steve Rogers's fourth uniform was created and given to him by S.H.I.E.L.D. as a stealth uniform to be used on missions. The suit was a navy blue, utilitarian-style suit with a Kevlar-based ballistic component that could protect him but at the same time function like a military black-ops uniform. It was used to retake command of the Lemurian Star, learn about Project Insight, and escape from the Triskelion.
In 2018, Rogers wore this uniform when he traveled with the Avengers via the Benatar into space to Planet 0259-S to confront Thanos about the Infinity Stones.
Smithsonian Golden Age Uniform

"If you're gonna fight a war, you gotta wear a uniform."―Captain America[src]
In 2014, Steve Rogers retrieved a costume inspired by his World War II outfit from his Captain America exhibit at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.. He wore this in the battle at the Triskelion.
Second Avengers Uniform
Steve Rogers at the Avengers Compound
"That's all set up, boss."
"Actually, he's the boss. I just pay for everything and make everyone look cooler."―Maria Hill and Tony Stark[src]
This uniform was designed by Tony Stark, who provided equipment for the Avengers. The design is similar to his Stealth Uniform, retaining some of its stealthy features, but returning to the red-white-and-blue color pattern. One of its improvements is a series has strong electromagnetic panels on each of the gloves that allows him to retrieve his shield more easily and attach it to the forearm. It is also more durable than his previous uniforms, being capable of withstanding repulsor blasts. In 2015, Steve Rogers used this to retrieve the Scepter from the HYDRA facility in Sokovia, confront Ultron at the Salvage Yard, steal the Regeneration Cradle in Seoul, fight Ultron and his Sentries in the battle in Sokovia, and to assemble a new team at the Avengers Compound.
Third Avengers Uniform
Steve Rogers wearing the Uniform during the Clash of the Avengers
In 2016, Steve Rogers adopted a modified version of his second Avengers uniform as the leader of a new team of Avengers. The suit is more heavily armored than the previous one, and dispensed with the electromagnets, re-adopting the more traditional straps. He wore this during the mission to stop Crossbones in Lagos, rescuing Bucky Barnes from the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre, the conflict at the Leipzig-Halle Airport, and the fight with Tony Stark at the HYDRA Siberian Facility.
Steve Rogers wearing the Uniform in Wakanda
Following the ratification of the Sokovia Accords, he removed the Avengers logos on his shoulders and after going on the run as a fugitive, he removed the star from the center of his uniform and disposed of his helmet. He continued to wear the uniform throughout the remainder of 2016, through 2017, and into 2018. From his time in hiding and stopping terrorists in the Middle East, his entire suit became dirtied into a slightly darker color with more rips around the center, exposing the chain mail/linked scales underneath the outfit. He wore the uniform when he rescued Vision and Wanda Maximoff from Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight in Scotland, the return to the Avengers Compound, the battle against the Outriders in Wakanda, and the confrontation with Thanos.
Fourth Avengers Uniform
Steve Rogers wears the Uniform during the Blip's initiation
In 2023, Steve Rogers used a fourth uniform that resembled his last one, which had the chain mail scales on it; however, the scales were now exposed, unlike the previous uniform, where it was hidden under the outfit. He wore this uniform during the initiation of the Blip, the attack on the Avengers Compound, and the battle against an alternate Thanos and his army.
Steve Rogers wearing the Uniform to return the Infinity Stones
Rogers wore the uniform under his Advanced Tech Suit to journey the Quantum Realm in order to return the Mjølnir and the Infinity Stones to their respective timelines. Completing his task, he traveled to an alternate 1940s, removing the uniform before reuniting with an alternate Peggy Carter.
John Walker's Uniform
John Walker wearing his Captain America Uniform
"This suit, it comes with expectations, brother."―Lemar Hoskins to John Walker[src]
In 2024, John Walker was selected by the United States government to become the new Captain America. As the new Captain America, Walker was given his own uniform. His helmet featured a symbol representing the combination of the letter "A," like Rogers' helmet, and a star. The same symbol was located on the right side of his chest and on the back of his uniform, where the shield was stored.
Sam Wilson's Uniform
Sam Wilson wearing his vibranium Captain America Uniform
"For what it's worth, suit looks good on you."―Sharon Carter to Sam Wilson[src]
After John Walker was stripped of his military rank along with the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson decided to become the third Captain America. As a result, Bucky Barnes asked the Wakandan Design Group to create a new Captain America uniform for Wilson. This new uniform had many noticeable differences from previous versions, as it was a vibranium version of the EXO-7 Falcon. Further changes included the primary suit color being white instead of blue as well as the lack of a helmet.
Alternate Universe Versions

To be added
Captain Carter's SSR Uniform
Peggy Carter wearing the Captain Carter uniform
"This was supposed to be your USO 'let's go sell some war bonds' costume. But I made a few upgrades."―Howard Stark to Peggy Carter[src]
In an alternate timeline, Peggy Carter received the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers. Operating as Captain Carter, she was given a uniform by Howard Stark, which was decorated with the flag of the United Kingdom.
Third Avengers Uniform
Steve Rogers wearing the Uniform
In an alternate 2018, Steve Rogers wore the third Avengers uniform to San Francisco in response to the Zombie Apocalypse caused by a quantum virus. However, upon arriving, he was infected and transformed into a zombie.
First Avengers Uniform
In an alternate timeline, Steve Rogers wore the first Avengers Uniform to fight Loki and his Einherjar army on a Helicarrier.
Captain Carter's STRIKE Uniform
When Captain Carter joined S.H.I.E.L.D.'s STRIKE Team, she wore this uniform. The suit was a navy blue, utilitarian-style suit with a silver Union Jack symbol on the chest. Captain Carter wore the uniform while infiltrating the Lemurian Star and during the Battle for the Multiverse.
