Fun places to take your dog near me

Lots of people have dogs in Singapore; they are our little friends and in some cases our child-replacements. It’s even warmer for them than it is for us, but you can’t leave them at home all the time. They need to be mentally stimulated and exercised – and you (and they) will get bored walking around the same block every day. I have smuggled mine into the office occasionally and they love the different environment and the many pairs of hands to pat them!

#1 Go for a swim

Does your Spot enjoy a splash? Check out Sunny Heights (110 Turf Club Road) for two swimming pools built just for dogs – perfect for those days when the Singapore sun gets a little too much even for your furry friend. There’s a place to wash your dog when you’re done, too, complete with a fur dryer!

#2 Order in

#3 Dine out

#4 Check out a dog run

Several of Singapore’s parks have fenced-in dog runs. The one in Bishan Park (next to Car Park A) is one of the biggest, and there’s even a special area for big dogs. On Sentosa, Tanjong Beach Club as well as the beach itself are very dog-friendly. For more, see our roundup of dog runs and parks.

#5 Ace the Agility

NEX in Serangoon has a sky park for pooch, featuring poles and hurdles and separate enclosures for dogs of difference sizes. It’s located next to Pet Safari; take the pet lift or the outside escalator.

#6 Do Dog Yoga

Whether your dog has had plenty experience or is just a novice, the people at Puppy Yoga Singapore will be more than happy to welcome them into one of their human-dog yoga classes. With a trained yoga instructor for the humans and plenty of space for the doggos to enjoy themselves, these 35-minute classes are an enjoyable way to spend time with your pooch. (Note: only small dogs are allowed in Puppy Yoga classes.)

#7 Craft a Canine Cake

If it’s a very special day for a certain furry someone – or you’re just keen to spoil them – look no further than The Woof Barkery. Billing itself as Singapore’s finest dog bakery, this spot specialises in cakes just for hounds. With the option to customise your sweet treat into a special shape, as well as cupcakes with your pets’ names and even with their faces in the frosting, this is guaranteed for a special occasion for any dog.
