EA address accidental Apex Legends account bans

EA have issued an apology for the accidental suspensions of various Apex Legends accounts and are working on a fix.

Various Apex Legends player accounts were hit with accidental bans after EA cracked down on clubs that violated the terms of service, and now the devs have issued an apology for this problem.

Much like Activision’s Warzone, EA’s Apex Legends has its fair share of players who tend to break the game’s terms of service. As a result, the developers decided to crack down on Apex Clubs with offensive or derogatory names.

However, this ended up backfiring on players, as multiple accounts were hit with bans accidentally on July 29. The Apex Legends community saw this as unfair, and now EA has addressed the issue.

Various Apex Legends players noted that their accounts had been banned, even though they hadn’t broken any terms of service. This was simply due to their affiliation with a club with an inappropriate or blacklisted name.

Community manager EA_Mako confirmed that club-based suspensions were only supposed to be warnings, and EA has reassured players that they are now working on this problem.

“Sorry for the confusion on this one,” Mako said. While a number of warnings did go out for this, it looks like there were a small number of suspensions that unintentionally accompanied those warnings in some cases.”

If players are still banned then there are some steps that the community manager suggested to get around it. Simply restart Apex Legends, sign out, and sign back in to check the account’s status.

If that doesn’t work, then players can try reaching out to EA’s Terms of Service team to get their accounts back. This may take a while, but they’ll get to play Apex Legends again soon enough.

With Season 10: Emergence on its way, players will want to ensure that their accounts are active so that they can enjoy the new update.

Click Contact usat the top of any page on EA Help.
Select the game that your account was banned or suspended from. If it’s on your whole EA Account, choose Origin.
Choose your platform.
Select Manage my account, then Banned or suspended account.
Fill out any other details below.
- For example, if you picked Origin, it might ask you if you are accessing the game through an Origin Access membership.
Click Select contact option.
Sign in to your account that has the ban or suspension, if you aren’t already.
