We are attending theAtlanta Falcons game the evening of August 16 at the Georgia Dome with our young kids. Should we book a hotel near the Dome (like Embassy Suites) and walk to and from the game, or stay further away and drive to and from the game? What is the atmosphere like after a night game around the Dome? Safe? Family friendly? Is parking & traffic a nightmare? Thanks for your input. Show Report inappropriate content

It's a little rambunctious on gamedays, but people are generally harmless. After a night game you should be fine, but I wouldn't stick around for too long. It can get a little bit interesting... Anyway, Parking isn't too hard (but you have to pay at least $20), but getting out is a pain and can take hours sometimes. Report inappropriate content

Re: Where to stay for Atlanta Falcons game? 10 years ago Save It may be easier to stay near the Dome and walk to and from the game. There will be a big crowd and a big police presence. I wouldn't have real safety concerns before and after the game. If you stay in midtown orBuckhead, take MARTA. It will be crowded, but is better than trying to drive and find parking. Re: Where to stay for Atlanta Falcons game? 10 years ago Save well you definitely dont want to hang around too long aftre a game--the area right across the street from the Dome is a major drug selling area--I park across the street from the Dome off Northsde, and while attmpting to make a right turn into that area to avoid traffc the off duty cop told me not t do that its too dangerous, lots of drug sellers .Id stay in Embassy or Omni, and go right there after the game with all the crowds--itll be fine then--just dont hang out at the Dome too long--its about a 10 minute walk and therell be lots of people befroe and after the game Report inappropriate content

Ive neverr spent hous getting out of parking--its a 15 minute walk to the lot on Northside, and the police direct all traffic North--im out of the lot on my way 30 minutes after the game--if you do want to drive PM me (imNYC guy) and ill help you find your way Report inappropriate content

Re: Where to stay for Atlanta Falcons game? 10 years ago Save There is a taxi queue right outside of the Dome. It's well marked - right on the plaza. I usually drive and park at the State Bar building, because it's right on the edge of the Dome area - the safer edge at that - and when you make a right out of the building there's no traffic. Re: Where to stay for Atlanta Falcons game? 10 years ago Save PS JAtlanta---im interested in taxis too--- if im running late to drive down, which doesnt happen very often, id take MARTA and then grab cab back to where i parked my car at MARTA--the last time i did that t waited forever to catch a taxi off Northside so if theyre at the Dome itd be way more convenient--thanks Report inappropriate content

Re: Where to stay for Atlanta Falcons game? 10 years ago Save Yes, anyone can park at the state bar. It's free for bar members, though. They are open late, and are open for all events at Phillips and the Dome. I live straight down Dekalb Ave, so it's really easy for me to get home. But it's easy to get to the interstate, too.
