In Minecraft, you can tame a parrot by giving it seeds. Let's explore how to tame a parrot.
Required Materials to Tame a Parrot
In Minecraft, these are the materials you can use to tame a parrot:

Steps to Tame a Parrot
1. Find a Parrot
Once you have the required materials, you will need to find a parrot to tame.
If you are having trouble finding a parrot, you can always summon a parrot using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.
2. Use the Seeds
You can tame a parrot by giving it any kind of seeds such as melon seeds, seeds, pumpkin seeds or beetroot seeds. In this tutorial, we will feed the parrot melon seeds to tame it. To do this, place your melon seeds in the hotbar and make sure that it is the selected item in your hotbar.
Now you need to use the melon seeds. The game control to use the melon seeds depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the parrot.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you move your pointer over the parrot and press the Tame button.
- For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS3 and PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
- For Wii U, press the ZL button on the gamepad.
- For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the parrot.
- For Education Edition, right click on the parrot.
TIP: You will need to feed seeds to the parrot more than once to tame it.
Once you feed the seeds to the parrot, you will most likely see gray smoke appear above the parrot. The parrot is not yet tamed. Continue to feed the parrot more seeds until you see red hearts appear all around the parrot. This means that the parrot is being tamed.
Once the taming process is complete, the hearts will disappear and the parrot will be tame and want to sit on your shoulder.
