Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 Windows 10

This is a very commonly asked question. In our experience, yes, an Intel Core 2 duo can run Windows 10, but only if the computer is running Windows 7 first. If you are unsure, ask the technician if this is possible.

The reason for this is that Windows 10 needs to be installed on a system with the UEFI BIOS, which some earlier versions of Windows do not support, but all Intel Core 2 Duo computers do support. You should also update your BIOS because many older computers can’t run UEFI which is required for parts of Windows 10 to run properly.

If you want to run an Intel Core 2 Duo on Windows 10, then you’ll need to upgrade some parts of your computer. This includes: possibly your RAM from 4 GB to 8GB, and your hard drive from a HDD to an SSD. Also, we recommend getting a video card and monitor that support the higher resolution of Windows 10 (1920×1080).

Even a low-end GPU will improve performance. A dedicated GPU will move away the burden of handling graphics from your CPU to allow for faster multitasking. For high-end gaming it is important to get at least a dedicated video card inside the computer, but it depends on what you want to do with Windows 10.

Every user has an unique purpose for a PC, so you will need to do some research on how fast a computer you would need for your specific use.

Minimum requirements for Windows 10

Here are some minimum specs on what an Intel Core2 Duo needs to run windows 10:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 (2 GHz) Processor HDD : 250 GB HDD

RAM: 4GB

Video Memory: 256MB Video RAM GDDR3

In theory, Windows 10 will only require 4GB of RAM, but if you intend to run multiple tabs on a web browser, play games, or use virtual machines simultaneously, you will need 8 GB.  Windows 10 can a very resource-intensive OS, even more so than the previous generation of Windows – Windows 7.

I always recommend a fresh installation of windows 10 to get rid of all the bloatware that came with your computer. Finally, update windows again and install all the latest updates from Microsoft.

So what do I need to do during this Upgrade process?

After all the necessary hardware upgrades have been made.., let’s go ahead and insert the Windows 10 Disc into our CD/DVD slot. Once you hear the disc whirring in your PC open up your screen similar to how it would be if you were opening an email message or document. You should see a prompt that says “Setup is starting” then another prompt will come on saying “Preparing Your PC”. This part of the process can take some time depending on how big the file is for windows 10 but don’t worry – its moving fast!

Now we’re going to wai titt until the prompt “Ready to Start” comes on and click it. Now we need to accept the software agreement and continue with setup process by clicking next.

Once that’s done, you will see a window that says “Which type of installation do you want?” Make sure its set to Upgrade by clicking Change what to keep option below and select upgrade from this list then select Next. The reason we’re doing this is because usually when you install Windows 7 onto a new PC there can be some glitches or errors so we are going for an easier way which is upgrading your old OS to your new system without any problems!

Now let’s go ahead and put in our product key code (it should be located on a sticker inside the case of your Windows 10 DVD/CD or if you bought a USB copy, it should’ve came with a code), and click Next.

Now what you have to do is WAIT! This can take a while before your PC restarts so just head over to the kitchen grab more snacks and come back when its done. Once that’s done, you will see this window below. Click on Next then choose “I don’t want to make a backup of my files right now.” We’re not going to be making any backups because we already made one earlier from the upgrade process before we installed Windows 10 onto our new PC! Now type in your password and press Enter on the keyboard. Allow access for Administrators, etc., until it finally loads up. You might be prompted with a User Account Control window. Click Yes/Allow/OK and move on with the installation of Windows 10.

What to do after I install Windows 10 on my Intel Core 2 duo computer?

I recommend updating all your drivers from scratch to get rid of old cruft that might be slowing down performance.

I also recommend enabling Windows update by clicking the Start button, typing “windows update” and then choosing “Check for updates.” You will be prompted to install any important updates.

Windows 10 update is great but..

Here are some other things you can do to get the most out of your new install:

Install all the latest drivers available for your hardware from motherboard chipset manufacturers (like Intel) and video card manufacturers (like Nvidia). These should include USB 3.0 controller drivers, SATA controller drivers, LAN controller drivers, etc. If you have an Intel chipset/graphics combination laptop like mine, click this link to find your specific computer in their driver repository

If possible try updating to a later version of Windows 10. Windows 10 v21H1 is the latest build which includes compatibility, security and other updates which allow it to run on more and older machines.

If your computer is unable to update automatically, you can try updating manually. To check if there are updates available for Windows 10, type in “Settings” and search for ‘Updates’. From here choose “Check for updates”. If any updates are available click the download button next to them. Your PC may restart a couple times during this process so don’t worry if this happens. Once finished you should be able to use Windows 10 with no problems.

What if I get an error while upgrading to Windows 10?

That’s pretty common. Don’t panic. Most errors can be fixed by our computer technicians. Other errors can be caused by missing files or a corrupted Windows 10 download.
