If your kids mature enough let them watch it

So I am gonna get straight to it, this is a great show for kids who love the fairy tales but if there bored of the kiddie ones. There is not that mush for the romance part,I think the worst things are implied sex kissing of the neck (this is the only showed once ) etc there is profanity b word s word h word. Casual drinking (parties.) There is a relationship with a older men and a woman who is younger, and some violence and deaths you don’t see anything though other than that it was a great show there are seven seasons and a add on show, I did get burned out but I’m trying to get back into it. Seven seasons are perfect for kids who fly through tv it will take them a while. I watched on Disney plus.

Great Show

Great show! I really enjoyed it. Like others have said, great positive female role models. I didnt notice any swearing/drugs/smoking. There are sexual innuendos more so in the later seasons. Specifically with Captain Hook. Comments such as "when im with a girl on her back i usually like to be doing something more fun" if youre okay with that then youre good to go because i dont believe it gets more sexual then thaxt

Splendiferous watch-together-for the kiddos ! .

Hey Moms, Dads, and fellow Guardians! I'm a parent of a 1, 2, and 5 year old and I believe that this show is a must-watch for all those kids around the world. We had a family TV night every Friday and Saturday for a few months- and even Dad Steven enjoyed it! There are great role models and life lessons to be learned from all the characters. However I will say a beware to all of my fellow MDfGs (Moms-Dads-fellow Guardians). There is a lot of profanity such as some uses of "poop" and "toilet" - but we will swiftly move past that. There is also some violence throughout the series but if you have tough kiddos like mine then they'll be fine with that! In addition, there is also some drinking but nothing to be worried about :) I recommend Shrek, it's a great movie and Father Steven even enjoyed it! As my kiddos have been sayin of late, "Shrek is love, Shrek is life ! ".. See y'all next time MDfGs!

Amazing show

Don't listen to the other reviews talking about bad things in this show. Yes, it does have mild swearing (nothing an 11 year old an up wouldn't know) and it does have some slightly sexual scenes, but kids can probably handle it, and most episodes (if not all) focus heavily on non-sexual themes and plot lines. As for violence, yes, there are some gory moments, but it doesn't show too much blood, and any magical creatures are clearly fake. The show doesn't have the best CGI. Drinking and smoking are shown sometimes, but they aren't at the forefront of any episode except for a few exceptions, which are listed in the following text: 1) Captain Hook/Killian Jones is well-known for having a rum habit, and he is shown drinking it often. Sometimes, he is clearly depicted as drunk, and others are also shown having some of his rum sometimes. However, his being drunk is shown to have negative effects, so that could be a good role model. Also, he is most likely not addicted, because he has gone for certain lengths without drinking, or even mentioning alcohol. 2) In season seven, Regina/Roni/Evil Queen owns and operates a bar called Roni's. People are obviously shown drinking and being drunk inside it. (Including the main character, Henry Mills) I known that many people say that the show got immensely worse for season seven, but I do not believe this. Despite major characters leaving the show, (Snow, Charming, Emma, Belle, Hook, etc.) it still captures the classic Once Upon a Time spirit. Although Hook is technically not in season seven (except for a few select episodes, along with Emma, Belle, Snow, and Charming) his "Wish Realm" self is a main character in season seven, and "Wish Hook" looks, acts, and talks the same as normal Hook, so it might as well be him. Emma's spirit is captured in Henry, and is daughter, Lucy, as are Snow and Charming, and although Belle is not in the season, she causes many events to occur indirectly because of Rumple's/Mr. Gold's/Weaver's obsession with getting back to her. I do believe that seasons 1-6 were on average, better than season seven, and the show would have been fine ending with season six, I also believe that season seven is a masterpiece in its own right, bringing in new characters and cast, more modern language, technology, and scenarios, and a whole new location, while keeping the old Once Upon a Time spirit alive. However, I would not recommend the spin-off series, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. It is annoying and does not stay true to the main show. In addition, its version of Alice (which I might add, is the main character of that show,) is much more annoying and worse than the original Once Upon a Time's version, who is only a side character, (yet still important) in season seven. To conclude, Once Upon a Time (which you can get on Disney Plus) is an amazing show and can be enjoyed for ages 11 and up, and I also think that depending on the kid, you could watch with them from ages 8 or 9 and up. I will say, though, before I finish, that it is immensely hard to finish the entire show (or even get past season three or four) without becoming obsessed. If you don't have that obsession, and you're just obligatorily watching it each night or week, you will not be able to complete it. You will eventually start watching it less and less and less, and soon, you'll forget what's going on, and you'll stop. So try hard, but only those who truly LOVE the show will complete it.

Great family show for everyone!

This has been one of our favorite shows bridging between kids cartoons and something a little more interesting for us parents. Lots of family friendly action and adventure. A truly genius reimagining and intertwining of the old fairy tales. Amazingly strong female leads working and fighting alongside equally strong male leads. No character is stereotypically perfect: completely all good or completely all evil. Really helps introduce depth and complexity to younger kids. This show offers a lot for families to discuss and enjoy.

Some of these parents are truly Ridiculous

I first began the first season of OUAT at the end of my senior year of high school WITH my family before going off to college. Its been almost 10 years since then and I began rewatching during the Pandemic. I think this show is Amazing. Totally nostalgic for a 90s baby like me when alot of Disney movies in which OUAT characters are based on appear such as Belle from Beauty & the Beast, Ariel from the Little Mermaid, and even from later seasons, Aladdin & Jasmine. They give alot of the characters a new back story and I love how everything is related and how even up until the last seasons we are still learning more about certain characters and their histories like the love story between Snow White and Prince Charming through flashbacks. 9 and under may be a little iffy plus I think the seriousness of the plot might not capture their interest anyhow without the exaggerated fairytale/animated aspect. Some parents have been complaining about the swearing which I don't think is bad at all. Every other episode maybe once or twice you may hear the B word but most everything else is only H*ll or D*mn. Trust me your kids are probably saying this stuff themselves especially if they are over the age of 11. One thing I will say is there is a good amount of drinking including day drinking going on, many characters drink when stressed, and one of the main characters carries a flask everywhere but he's literally a Pirate (Captain Hook), what do you expect? At 10, I had definitely heard the phrase "yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" so spare me. I'm sure none of you were swearing off the classic Pinocchio in which children were literally drinking and smoking. The characters drinking are of Age. Which brings me to the "sexy stuff". You "Christian" parents must also be single parents if you're Worried about your child seeing MARRIED people just sitting/laying in a bed together. Like really. There was literally only one sex scene in this show and it's in the second to last season. Everything else is just innuendo that will likely go over a young child's head or is nothing your preteen doesn't already know about. Yes in the first season the mayor and the sheriff have a little "friends with benefits" thing going on, and yes, she does kill him later but that's because she's Evil and everything is a means to an ends for her in the beginning. Morally cloudy, perhaps, but again nothing is Ever shown only implied by her zipping up her dress and him leaving out the window. If you hate it that much just skip that part. This is not an aspect that occurs frequently in the show AT ALL, so this is one of very few times where skipping will have to be done. There's a lot of kissing done (NOT making out) but one of the most Central themes of the show is that "True love's kiss can break any curse, spell, etc) MOST of the kissing is done between characters that are married or 100% devoted to & in love with the other if not (yet) in a committed relationship. And literally every Disney movie I have ever watched with the exception of Moana and Brave has shown One kissing scene and the song" Kiss the Girl" from the Little Mermaid literally got nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, & a Grammy...so I'm really not understanding the problem. As far as the violence aspect, it is very mild and Never gory. The violence can be compared to early Harry Potter movies, more than suitable for an 11 year old seeing as Harry and his friends were literally 11.
