Which Sparkplugs? N55 (mods)

Hopefully someone can chime in on this.... I've seen posts where everyone says something different...

I have a 12 335i

Mods:

Jb4
Catless DP
BMS INTAKE
resonator delete (if that makes any difference)

I'm gonna change my plugs in the summer and wanted recommendations... I've heard of people say go 1-step colder or something and I have no idea what that means :O

I have the OEM Bosch plugs which were recommended by many people. Because of the tune and FBO, I went one step colder which meant gapping them to .022, you can do this by slightly pushing up with a gap measuring tool, or buying pre-gapped plugs. I had my shop do it to the plugs for me so I could stick with Bosch.

Per NGK's website: "Typically, for every 75-100 hp you add, you should go one step colder on the spark plug's heat range"

Why would you go with NGKs website rather than Bosch?

It was the first link that came up on google

Combustion reaction physics are the same regardless of spark plug manufacturer, so I just used their quote to show why gapping is necessary on modified cars.

The one step colder. I think it's called NGK 5992.

Had issues with misfiring with oem plugs, so I changed them to NGK 1-step colder (95770), gapped them to 0.022", tightened them to 17 ft/lbs, and blew into the coils to make sure there wasn't any debris. Car runs perfectly.

Scheduled interval is about 45kMiles. If you have the Performance kit the interval drops to 37Kmiles.
If you have increased boost you should replace them more often.
You should go 1 step colder. (Above 500whp you can adjust to 1,5 colder, imo).
I change mine every 15K (max.) in order to eliminates upcoming issues and I'm certain this 1 hr is spend wisely.
/Krelle

So I'd buy the colder plugs....

So let's say I buy one of the NGK ya all posted model wise...

Do I have to manually gap them then??

I don't have a spark plug gapping tool so I'd have to get one

the NGK 5992 are NOT one step colder than stock N55 plugs, same heat range. N54 is a different story, which is why it was such a popular choice.

I'd look into copper plugs, better performance but much shorter intervals.
