Pokemon with blue vine like herbs

You can receive this quest as you progress through Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In it, you’ll receive a task where you’ll need to find a Pokémon covered in herbs, shaped like blue vines, and catch them to show to Risa, whom you can find in the basement of the Galaxy Headquarters. In this guide, we’ll cover how to complete the request The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs in Pokémon Legends and to find a Pokémon covered in blue vines.

The Pokémon Risa is looking to catch in the Crimson Mirelands, specifically in the Gapejaw Borg, or in the Cobalt Crosslands, in Crossing Slope. The one you’re looking for is Tangela, and by visiting any of the previously mentioned locations, you should find it wandering around in the wild. Tangela is a Grass-type Pokémon, so if you’re looking to catch it, we recommend using Electric or Water-type moves on it to make sure you do not damage it too much or try to sneak up on it in the wild. In addition, you can use Springy Mushrooms to distract it before using a Poké Ball.

However, we had much more success with catching Tangela in the Cobalt Crosslands.

After you catch Tangela, return to Risa in the basement of the Galaxy Headquarters to speak with her. You’ll have to select a Tangela from your pasture or in your party to complete the request.

The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs is a side request in Pokemon Legends: Arceus that tasks you with finding a particular pokemon. A villager wants you to find a Pokemon that she remembers from back home. It is covered in herbs and shaped like blue vines.

There are a couple of quests like this, all you need to do is capture the Pokemon and bring it back to her, the hard part is figuring out which Pokemon she is talking about.

What Is the Pokemon Risa Wants?

For anyone who has been a fan of Pokemon since gen 1, the answer should be an easy one. There is only one Pokemon that has blue vines on his body and that is Tangela. Very strange looking Pokemon, many have wondered what is under the blue vines. As Risa will even say once you give it to her.

Where To Catch Tangela

Now that you know the Pokemon Risa is looking for in the quest The Fragrance of Nostalgic Herbs, the next question is where do actually find the Pokemon?

If you have been to the Crimson Mirelands, you may have already found one. If not, this is where you need to visit. The map below will show you the general area where you can find this Pokemon.

The circle marked on the map is normally where you will find Tangela. Be careful, there will also be an aggressive alpha in this area.

Once you have captured one, you can keep it in your Pasture, you do not need to have it on your Party. Head back to Jubilife and speak with Risa to complete the Fragrance of Nostalgic herbs request.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends: Arceus sets to flip the entire series of Pokémon upside down by completely reinventing the gameplay. Gone are the days of bumping into wild Pokémon as you walk in the long grass. Pokémon Legends: Arceus introduces us to a fully open-world adventure. The action exploration model is built on top of the traditional RPG elements of previous Pokémon games giving us something completely new. Interact with wild Pokémon…

Tangela is a plant Pokémon covered by blue, seaweed-like vines that obscure its face. There is a small opening in the vines that reveals its eyes surrounded by a black space. The vines give Tangela a round shape, but it is unknown what it looks like without them. Its vines are covered in fine hair and are always growing. If damaged or lost, replacements are grown. There is a pair of red boot-like feet poking out from under the vines, but no visible arms.

Tangela can ensnare and entangle anything that moves too close to it with its vines. The vines constantly jiggle and sway, unnerving enemies and causing a tickling sensation if ensnared. Tangela's vines will snap off easily and painlessly if the target pulls on them, so it can quickly escape. The vines of Tangela are said to have a distinct scent. In Galar, its vines are used as herbs. Tangela can usually be found in .

Trivia

Origin

Due to the mystery around Tangela's appearance under its vines, it may be based on the swamp monster from the short story "It!" by Theodore Sturgeon. In addition, it may also be inspired by the Sargassum seaweed monsters written by the English writer William Hope Hodgson, which inspired monsters in Japanese pop culture.

It may also be based on Selaginella lepidophylla, a plant that forms tumbleweeds; and Medusa, a gorgon of Greek mythology. In addition, it may be based on a Green Man, a motif represented as a face surrounded by leaves and vines.

Its Pokédex entries state that its vines will be entangled with its surroundings. This may be a reference to thigmotropism, a biological reaction plants have towards contact that encourages them to coil around objects they touch as they grow, allowing stability in their stems and branches.

Name origin

Tangela may be a combination of tangle and -ella (suffix used to form taxonomic names).

Monjara may be a combination of monster, もじゃもじゃ mojamoja (shaggy or unkempt), and 毛むくじゃら kemukujara (densely covered in thick hair).
