I am looking for the easiest way for a client to return arental car to the Fort Lauderdale Int. Airport. Currently they have Dollar...rate was fine, but the drop-off is "off airport".... are there any on-airport (walk to the terminal) car rental returns?

There is a Dollar outlet at the airport joint rental building, but if his rental document clearly says off Airport return , it is most likely if he tried to drop it atFLL , they would either refuse it or charge him a very large fee for dropping it off there. I suspect he got a low rate that requires him to use the off airport return. The Dollar location he is probably assigned to is not far from FLL though I'm guessing - likely the one on Miami Rd just at the intersection of SE 24 St. near the entrance to the Port. It would probably be only $10 taxi ride from there to FLL if he has to leave it there. I have heard of others who were not permitted to drop cars at FLL, but can't recall which rental company.

I had occasion to return acar to the Miami Road location albeit about 3 years ago and overheard agents saying to new renters that they could return their cars to the airport for an extra cost which equated to the cost of a taxi from the Miami Road location. That might be worth checking out.

We usually rent through Avis at theFLL location. A hotel deal steered us toward Hertz for our last trip. I DO NOT recommend using Hertz. We accidentally left a Sunpass transponder in the winsdhield and I noticed that 1/2 hour after I returned the car. They didn't answer the phone when I called. In fact, it's been 2 weeks and still not a single person has answered the phone at the rental counter in the airport. If they would have answered, I could have straighted that out before the car was cleaned up and put back into circulation. Their corporate customer service is no better. If you have a serious problem you'll be stranded for sure because a live person will never answer the phone for anything other than selling you a rental contract. This is still ongoing and I'll post an update if anything changes...
