when your starting up the game, in the top right, click the 2 overlapping squares icon to make it windowed mode then you can change the resolution by changing the window size. the squares icon apears in the top right (in game) when the logo is showing after booting the game up. you can then drag the window from the edge to make it much smaller.

I tried that, but you cannot make it smaller. You can drag it out, but you cannot make it smaller than a certain size. Looking through the comments, this is apparently a problem for a lot of other people with lower resolutions as well.

Can't you change the resolution on the menu? You might have to start a game first, but open the options menu, set the game to full screen and try changing the resolution that way.

You have to put the game in Fullscreen first, then you can change the resolution. In Windowed and Windowed Borderless, it will be greyed out.

Bear in mind that I mean borderless as the graphics setting in the options menu, not maximizing the window with the corner button, like you would an internet browser. I think this might be where the confusion is coming from.

Oddly, I had to change it to 1600x900 before I could get it into 1920x1080, because the mouse had trouble responding at the default resolution, but your mileage may vary.
