Below is a minutes calculator. Use the inputs and enter a starting time and an ending time, then hit 'Calculate'. We'll add up the number of minutes (up to a 23 hours and 59 minutes maximum).
Using the Minutes Calculator
To use the tool to find the minutes difference between two times, enter
- Start time: The beginning of the activity or time-span
- End time: the end of the activity or time-span
Next, click Calculate Difference in Minutes. We'll then do the math on the two times you give us and calculate the minutes between them. Again, the tool will assume the two hours happened within 24 hours of each other (up to 23 hours and 59 minute).
- Minutes Between: A count of the minutes between the start and end time you entered in the tool.
Is Noon in the AM or PM? What About Midnight?
By tradtion, 12:00 PM is noon and 12:00 AM is midnight.
What if the time-span crosses midnight? That is, what if the start time is later than end time?
The tool will assume the two times fall within the same 24 hour period. If the start time is later than the end time it will do the math assuming the time frame passed midnight.
Minutes Between Two Times
This tool along with the hours calculator are useful to compute the length of a shift. The minutes calculator is useful if you are paid in fractions of an hour, for example in 15 or 30 minute increments.
It's also very useful when exploring time with children. Instead of casually saying "just five more minutes", you can use the tool to show the relationship between two times.
I hope you enjoy the minute duration tool and you find it useful for all your minute math. Enjoy!

How many Hours is 2 Minutes?
Because one hour is equal to sixty minutes, in order to convert 2 minutes to hours you have to divide the number of minutes, 2, by 60.
The 2 minutes into hours formula is:
h = 2 min / 60
2 min = 0.03333 h (decimal, rounded to 5 places).
Next, we show you how to change the amount of time to hours and minutes combined.
2 minutes = 0 hours and 2 minutes.
This alternative conversion is way more common in daily life!
The non-decimal conversion formula goes as follows:
INT(2/60) hours + MOD(2,60) minutes
To obtain this result proceed as follows:
Obtain the whole number part of the division 2 / 60, INT(2/60), and write it down as hrs: 0.
Calculate the remainder of the previous division as 2 – (0 × 60), and write it down as min: 2.
Proof: (0 × 60) + 2 = 2.
