September 2nd- It's time for our Friday Highlights! You can check them out here!
I was just wondering what expansion pack the inside planter box came with seasons or supernatural. If anyone can point me in the right directions that would help.
Thanks,

Go to buy mode/items, living room, plants - that's where you'll find the three different planters. :-)

There are many reasons why one would want an indoor plant pot for their Sims' homes. For example, they may be living in a high-rise apartment or a houseboat with no terrain to plant plants on. This post will explain how Planter Bowls (plant pots) work.
Planter bowls come with The Sims 3 Supernatural expansion, or the Greenhouse from the Sims 3 Store. They are found under Decor -> Plants.
Fruits, vegetables, beans, mushrooms, and herbs can be planted in a Planter bowl the same way they would be planted outside. Already existing plants can be moved into plant pots from Buy Mode.
Plants in planter bowls require care the same way outdoor plants do. They also wilt, grow weeds, and die if not properly cared for.
Most plants may be harvested many times before they are depleted.
Happy Simming!

The Sims 3 Gardening How To
Gardening Classes, Planting, Caring for and Watering Plants

This Sims 3 Guide was originally written for the PC and Mac versions of the game, but also will help owners of the console versions - PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Please remember some info or numbers may have changed.
The most practical way to get started gardening in The Sims 3
In order to make a garden, you'll need a source of seeds. This can be achieved in several ways. First, all produce can be planted in the ground. That means you can go to the supermarket and
buy vegetables to plant in the garden. So any produce available in the supermarket can be planted, and you can grow them as seeds with the gardening skill. Simple enough? This is the simplest way to get almost all the plants in the Sims 3. Later, you can even learn how to plant cheese, eggs, and even steak on your way to making omni plants,
flame fruit bushes, death flowers and money trees.
Other ways to get your first gardening seeds
Secondly, you can find seeds in the park and other locations in the Sims 3.
The seeds can be hard to spot, but if you look closely on the ground in a location like the Park, you'll see seeds you can pick up. Most seeds will be unknown to you at first. so planting them will be a surprise.
Another way to find seeds is to head out into the world and look for wild plants. Similar to finding seeds, you may be able to harvest multiple high quality produce to plant in your garden, and get it off to a great start. Picking the fruits and vegetables from these plants can yield high quality plantable crops. You can find all but the most special plants out in the world. Look for an omni plant by the science facility, which can be used to duplicate items. There is a flame fruit bush in Gobias Koffi's garden in Sunset Valley. If you find one in Riverview, contact me.
How to Learn Gardening
Sims can learn the gardening skill for the first time using several
methods. The first and most obvious method is to plant your Sim's first crops (read on to learn how). Additionally, Sims can go to the library or bookstore to read or buy gardening books. There are three levels. The first book covers up to level 3. At level 4-6 you'll need volume 2, the last gardening levels are all covered by the final volume. Your Sim can also take a gardening class, at the science lab in either town. They can be costly, sometimes costing as much as $400 simoleons, but
they usually will raise gardening an entire level.
Green Thumbs will start with a free copy of gardening volume 1. Another advanced way to learn gardening is to have another Sim tutor your Sim. This usually must be done by you, as the AI won't offer to do it, but is a cool way to pass on your Sim's skills to others in their family.
How to Plant a
Seed
Setting up the Garden
Planting seeds in Double rows work very well as your Sim can work two rows at a time as they move down the lines of plants later. When your seeds are planted, be sure to use the tend garden action to make your sim work in the garden and do whatever is appropriate for each plant.
They will pull weeds, water plants and later harvest fruits and vegetables. The tend garden action is a gardener's best friend. Can you imagine manually clicking to pull 50 weeds, or harvest a hundred plants?
How to Water Plants
To water a plant, click the plant after the seed has been planted. Almost all plants will require water the first day. If the option to water them isn't available, they don't need water. You will commonly see this happen when a seed hasn't sprouted yet,
and had water the previous day. They just don't always need water early on. Once your garden has sprinklers upgraded by handiness, you'll never need to worry about watering them again.
Further Care
If your Sim is a green thumb, they can boost the quality of the harvested plants by talking to them. You should also read up on fertilizer and its effects.
