You can play Diablo 3 offline, it's online only only on PC. The only single player thing you can't do in D3 fully offline is the one-off check for playing seasonal characters (i.e. you have to go at least for a couple of seconds online after launching the game, if you wish to play seasona characters, to prevent cheating), but you can play non-seasonal characters however much you wish offline.

Whats happening is that only your profile on your new switch is able to access the content purchased by it ONLY if the account in question is connected to the internet.
