What is the Meme Generator?

How to make a meme

1. Choose a template. How can I customize my meme?

• You can move and resize the text boxes by dragging them around. If you're on a mobile device, you may have to first check "enable drag/drop" in the More Options section. You can add as many additional text boxes as you want with the Add Text button.

Why Does X Call You Babygirl?, also known as How About We Stop Talking for A Little While, refers to a recaptioned panel from chapter 98 of the manga Mob Psycho 100 where Shigeo asks Arataka why Serizawa calls him babygirl, to which he responds, "How about we stop talking for a little while." The photoshop was originally posted to Wattpad in 2020 and became the subject of redraws and further recaptions throughout mid-2021 where people used the quote as a phrasal template.

Origin

On October 19th, 2017, volume 15 of the Mob Psycho 100 manga was published.[1] On page 63 of chapter 98, Shigeo tells Arataka, "Please drive safely" from the passenger seat of a car, to which he responds, "How about we stop talking for a little while" (shown below).

The origin of the photoshop where Shigeo says "why does Serizawa call you babygirl" is unconfirmed, but appears to have first been posted to a Wattpad[2] entry created by user aradmille on August 19th, 2017, and last updated on July 4th, 2020 (shown below). On August 4th, 2021, Pinterest[3] user thoog xd pinned the image.

Spread

The recaptioned image became the subject of redraws and further recaptions over the course of mid-2021. For example, on August 24th, 2021, Twitter[4] user @Spalooncooties posted a redraw of the meme using Centaurworld characters, gaining over 390 likes and 100 retweets in seven months (shown below). On September 4th, Twitter[5] user @hufpup posted the original meme, writing, "I think about this image every day," gaining over 6,700 likes and 1,500 retweets in six months.

On September 7th, Tumblr[6] user cinnamontoads posted a redraw of the original meme in a new style, gaining over 3,300 notes in six months (shown below, left). On September 9th, Tumblr[7] user rh0mbus0fruin posted a Psychonauts redraw of the meme, gaining over 1,000 notes in a comparable span of time (shown below, right).

On September 19th, Tumblr[8] user sanchomps posted a version of the meme using Doom Eternal characters, gaining over 800 notes in six months (shown below). It was reposted by Instagram[9] user doom_fans on September 27th, gaining over 4,000 likes in a comparable span of time.

On October 17th, Twitter[10] user @hanmashuuji posted a version of the meme using a panel from Tokyo Revengers, gaining over 3,800 likes and 800 retweets in five months (shown below, left). On December 1st, Twitter[11] user @mintyo0s posted a version of the meme using Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach characters, gaining over 1,100 likes in three months (shown below, right).

On January 11th, 2022, Tumblr[12] user matches-art posted a Transformers version of the meme, gaining over 860 notes in two months (shown below, left). On January 13th, Tumblr[13] user moomkart posted a Mario Kart version of the meme, gaining over 710 notes in a similar span of time (shown below, right).
