Write the polynomial function as a product of linear factors: p(x)=x5−5x3−45x

(I know how to do the question below, but I can't do this one)

Example:

Write the polynomial function as a product of linear factors: p(x)=x5-7x3+12x

Answer: p(x)=x(x+2)(x−2)(x+3)(x−3)

Math, microeconomics or criminal justice

x^5 -5x^3 -45

factor out the x to get

x(x^4-5x^2-45) At this point, best guess is there's a typo in the problem and it was supposed to be -4x^3 not -5x^3. the 4 and 5 are close together on every keyboard

IF so,

x(x^4-4x^2-45) = x(x^2-9)(x^2+5) = x(x-3)(x+3)(x-isqr5)(x+isqr5)

What is a polynomial function on a graph?

The graph of a polynomial function will touch the x-axis at zeros with even multiplicities. The graph will cross the x-axis at zeros with odd multiplicities. The sum of the multiplicities is no greater than the degree of the polynomial function.

How do you identify a polynomial from a graph?

The graph of a polynomial function will touch the x-axis at zeros with even multiplicities. The graph will cross the x-axis at zeros with odd multiplicities. The sum of the multiplicities is the degree of the polynomial function.
