Kerman, California, in Fresno county, is 16 miles W of Fresno, California. The city is in the Fresno area. 

Kerman History

A rail line was built by the Southern Pacific Railroad Company in 1891 connecting Tracy and Fresno. The area was originally known as Collis. The name Kerman was formed by combining the first three letters of William G. Kerckoff and Jacob Mansar's names. Kercoff and Mansar were local capitalists. Kerman was incorporated as a city in 1946.
