Who is alex trebeks daughter

As the world continues to remember Alex Trebek's legacy on Jeopardy!, his 55-year-old daughter, Nicky, is remembering the quiz show icon as a dad.

Sunday marked Nicky's first Father's Day without her dad since the former Jeopardy! host's death this past November. Hoping to celebrate his spirit, Nicky began posting intimate photos of Alex on her Instagram feed. On Saturday, she shared a throwback picture of herself with her dad and half siblings Matthew, 31, and Emily, 28. "Seems like a minute ago #missingyou #trebekgang #dadlove," Nicky captioned the photo.

A day later, she revealed yet another Instagram tribute to Alex. Posting an even older picture of herself with her dad with the words "I will miss you forever" embedded on it, she wished her followers a Happy Father's Day. "The world is not the same without you but you sure left the most beautiful mark!," she penned alongside the picture.

On Monday, Nicky continued to post memories of her dad. Her latest Instagram features a picture of Alex appearing to feed a muskox. "Definitely dad‘s #spiritanimal He really loved this mammal in all it’s #majestic #peacefulwarrior #muskox #umingmac, #happyfathersday," she wrote.

In the comments section of each post were plenty of Jeopardy! fans and friends sharing kind and supportive messages. " Ur Dad is the most amazing man I have ever known. He is with u always," one follower wrote. "Alex Trebek is my hero in television since I was a kid. He will be in my heart and mind forever," someone else noted. "He'll be with you always. Happy Father's day Alex," another said.

Alex died on November 8 at the age of 80 — a year and a half after he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

According to Today.com, Alex adopted Nicky when he was married to his first wife, Elaine (they divorced in 1981). In 1990, Alex married Jean, whom he was with until his death last fall. Together, Jean and Alex had Matthew and Emily.

Alex Trebek's daughter Nicky is honoring the longtime "Jeopardy!" host's memory by raising awareness and funding in the battle against pancreatic cancer.

Speaking on television for the first time since her father's death, Nicky Trebek told "CBS This Morning" Tuesday that she is launching a team for the virtual PurpleStride walk, which benefits the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

The TV legend had attended a PurpleStride event in Los Angeles shortly after he was diagnosed with the illness in 2019. He died in November 2020 after a monthslong struggle.

"I just want to carry on his legacy, honor his fight, you know," Trebek said.

Having attended the 2019 event with her father, Trebek said the experience was "mind-blowing."

"That day was incredible, to drive up and see all of the other survivors and see him on stage with the other survivors, telling him their story and listening to others," she said. "I'm wearing my Team Alex hat from that."

She said the PurpleStride event would be her way to both honor her father and "to raise awareness for other families and other people struggling with the disease."

Alex Trebek had a legacy of charitable acts. Before he died, he and his wife donated half a million dollars to transform an old Los Angeles skating rink into a homeless shelter.

Nicky Trebek was there this week with her brother when the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission unveiled the plans to move forward with the newly named Trebek Center.

At the time of the original donation announcement, Trebek thought her father would be in attendance too.

"It was one of those things where he's invincible and so extraordinary and so many things that he does in life. And it was just- I'm not sure how to put it into words," she said.

The 2021 virtual PurpleStride walk is on May 1. More information on Team Nicky Trebek and how to help with the fight against pancreatic cancer can be found on the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's site.
