Alone With You in the Ether is brilliant. As always, Olivie Blake brings her characters and her setting to life so vividly and with such precision that the whole book feels like it's alive. Her style is such a gift for this story in particular, which zooms in on highly specific (and complex!) individuals, art, and math. Though these are characters and topics that could lose their appeal in a less capable author's hands, Olivie Blake weaves them together so expertly and so honestly that I haven't stopped thinking about her words since I finished reading two days ago.
I highly recommend Alone With You in the Ether to anyone who wants to read something honest about love, and life itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book!

Lovely book. Beautifully written story (and i’m assuming self published maybe ?), so all the more respect to Blake. However I’m such a nitpicker and it’s bugging me while reading that i’m so painfully aware the text is printed wonky on the right side page at the start of the book (page 7). I was thinking of rating a star lower because of this but honestly it really isn’t such a big deal and doesn’t detract from the book. Just thought it would be useful people to know so buyers can avoid the surprise if theirs comes the same way. Also i’m not the biggest fan of the spine design and really wish that it was blank, without the little shapes because it really doesn’t fit with the beautiful simplicity of the cover, which is so elegant looking, as opposed to the spine which just makes it look like just another YA book on my bookshelf. But apart from that it’s a lovely book and wld 100% recommend.

This
story is beautiful. I absolutely adore a good flawed character, a character aware of their flaws, their weaknesses, how fragile they are.
This book has two.
Aldo and Regan are so right and so wrong at the same time. Strong and weak. Flawed and perfect. Lovable and despicable, all at once.
Some lines in this book just took my breath away. They were so ethereal and unworldly, I felt consumed by their beauty.
It had been a long time since I read a book that I tried to make sense of
while it made perfect sense.
Highly recommended.

My life will be summed up in two parts: before reading this book and after.

I read this book with trepidation, because I was afraid it would gut me, emotionally. It did, and I am so grateful for it. I read this book in three sittings. In ten years, I have never read a book I was more immersed in. The vulnerability of these characters is sometimes hard to read, but makes you all the more eager to continue. If you are already a fan of this author, you might cry at the end, like I did. If you are new to her work, you might cry at the end. It’s understandable.
