Quick step by step Instructions
Unplug the Unit.
Before you begin to clean the unit, unplug it from the power outlet. Place any items that will disturb the cleaning in a cooler with ice.
Clean with soft sponge and detergent.
Use a soft clean sponge or cloth and mild detergent to clean the refrigerator. Do not use steel wool or any types of abrasive cleaners. For stainless steel exteriors, use commercial stainless steel cleaner and ensure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Remove detachable parts.
Pull out all removable parts such as shelves and bins. Allow them to warm up to room temperature before you start to clean them. If they are directly exposed to warm or hot water in the fridge (especially when cold), they could crack or break from thermal shock
Clean the door gasket.
The door gaskets should be cleaned regularly to ensure that the doors make a tight seal.
Some french door models have additional gaskets in the door
Replace the water filter.
Replace the water filter approximately every 6 months. Some models also come with a fresh air filter. For more information and how to order water or fresh air filter, please visit our Kitchen Accessories page.
Replace using only LG Brand filters that are not expired. Avoid using Non-LG Brand Water filter and Using a water filter for more than recommended period (6 months)
Use of consumable products that are NOT Authorized by LG is not covered under Warranty
LG recommends replacing the water filter every six months. If you have been using the filter for more than 6 months issues caused by this are not covered under Warranty
How to remove odor.
To help remove odors from the refrigerator's interior you can wash the inside with a mixture of backing soda and warm water. Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 quarter of water. Allow the baking soda to completely dissolve into the mixture to prevent scratching the surface of the refrigerator.
Clean the back coil *
The last part that may need maintenance is to clean the back coils, however LG recommends this to be done by a professional to avoid personal injury. For assistance, please refer to Request a Repair page.

Be sure to unplug the power.
If you want to take out an opti fresh zone drawer of a
refrigerator, Take out the drawer after remove a basket
in front of drawer.
Clean the outside of the fridge-freezer with a soft cloth
soaked with hot water or liquid detergent. If you use a
detergent, be sure to wipe it with a clean wet cloth.
If snow layer more than 3mm forms in the freezing
compartment or cooling compartment.
It can be removed with the plastic spatula, included in the
delivery set, the refrigerator should be unplugged for
defrosting and clean.
To clean the interior freezer room easily.
Above all things draw off a middle freezer
drawer and empty the rest of freezer
drawers before defrosting.
The snow layer hinders cold transfer to
products, increases cooling time and reduces quality of
products, raising power consumption.
It is prohibited to use metal objects for snow layer removal.
It is recommended to clean the freezing compartment after
each defrosting, but at least twice a year.
It is prohibited to scrape the surface of an freezing
evaporator with metal and sharp objects for snow layer
removal.
Check that the power cord is not damaged, power plug
has not overheated, and that the power plug is tightly
inserted into the outlet.
Be sure to dry the appliance with a cloth after washing
it with water.
Do not use abrasive, petroleum, benzene, thinner,
hydrochloride acid, boiling water, rough brush, etc, as
they may damage parts of the fridge-freezer.
