2006 honda odyssey shift solenoid a location

  • Hi, It’s been awhile…

I have a Honda Odyssey ’06, and I have a couple things going on. The Car has about 128K miles.

I am having rough idling issues. The car was at the dealership for a tuneup at 100K.

    Anyway I am getting general miss fires in Cyl 1, 2, 4, 5, 6…

    I am also getting codes 71-01, 76-01, 77-04.

    I am also getting:

    Shift Solenoid Valve “B” Malfunction.

Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve “A” Mis-function
Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve “B” Stuck “on”.

Does anybody know where these are on the Engine/Transmission? Are they easily reached without a lift ?

Can I replace these things without draining the transmission ?

I bought an online Haynes Manual which is sort of useless.

    Greg

  • Where is solenoid A located?

It's generally positioned between your vehicle's ignition module and the engine. Solenoids (also typically called starter solenoids or starter relays) operate by receiving both large electrical currents from your vehicle's battery and smaller electrical currents from the ignition system when the car key is turned.

What does shift solenoid A do?

The role of a transmission shift solenoid is to control the flow of transmission fluid. The transmission control module (TCM) sends an electrical signal telling the shift solenoid when to transfer fluid into and out of the transmission and at what rate.

Where is the shifter solenoid located?

The shift solenoid is located in the valve body assembly which is within the transmission. Typically, these solenoids can be replaced without removing the transmission but the job requires care and attention to detail.

What does A and B shift solenoid do?

Shift solenoids open and close valves in the valve body to allow transmission fluid to reach your clutches and bands for a smooth shift.
