The GE Profile front-load washing machines manufactured between December 2006 and February 2010 were voluntarily recalled on June 10, 2010. The recall occurred because of seven instances of flames escaping the machine and causing smoke damage due to a broken wire in the machines.

The limited 2008-2010 models of the GE Profile front-load washing machine manufactured between April 2008 and October 2010 were recalled on Oct. 3, 2010. The machine was potentially dangerous because the washer’s basket could separate, breach the top panel of the machine and cause injury.
