Sometimes people forget to turn some of these components off, such as the dome light, and they end up draining their batteries. Materials Needed

  • Jumper cables
  • Another car with a good battery

Step 1 – Park cars close together

Park the working car close to the dead one. You want your jumper cables to be able to reach from one engine compartment to the other. Then open both hoods on the working car and the dead one.

Step 2 – Connect positive terminal

With both cars off, connect your positive cable (red) to the positive battery terminal on the dead car, then connect the other positive side to the working car. In the Q5 or Q7, you will want to connect the cable to a piece of metal dedicated for this specific reason, you can find it under the red cover with the positive sign.

Step 3 – Connect negative terminal

Connect the negative cable to the negative terminal on the donor vehicle, then connect the other side to the negative terminal on your Audi.

Step 4 – Start the car

Start the donor car, then wait five to 10 minutes for the battery to charge. Start the dead car, then remove the negative terminal from the dead car, then remove the negative one from the donor car, and remove the positive from the donor car, then remove it from the dead car. Make sure you drive your car for 30 minutes to allow the battery to charge before you turn it off again.
