Best armor for duels Ghost of Tsushima Reddit

It’s all down to your style.

If you’re really good at parrying, Sarugami.

If you’re not, Gosaku’s for stagger bonuses or Samurai Clan for resolve from taking damage.

I use Kensei for the resolve to use the unblockable sword attacks and add charms to make up for Melee, Stagger, and damage reduction.

It’s actually none of those.

For this build, run either Gosaku or Sakai Clan. Doesn’t really matter which.

Charms of Dual Destruction. There are 4 of them in the game total. Two Charms of Dual Destruction, and two Charms of Dual Destruction II.

With all four of those charms, you’ll have a total chance of 30% to do double damage.

However, it doesn’t stop there.

Add Charm of Fortune and Charm of Fortune II. Both of them add 50% extra chance to perks that have chance activation. (Don’t ask me why there’s a Charm I and II, I don’t know either). 30x1.5=45% chance. 45x1.5=67.5% chance to do double damage, PER HIT.

Add Damage or Stagger Damage on top of that (Gosaku or Sakai Clan) and you’re absolutely set. It’s possible to kill a duelist at half health with one perfect parry if you get procs at the right time.

I too love the Gosaku armor. But after I discovered Sarugami armor, I've been rather surprised. It seems that the perfect parry counter attacks ignore guard and just go straight to health. Meanwhile the perfect dodge counter move does respectable stagger damage as well. Lately I've been experimenting with this for duels using that armor:

Mizu-no-Kami

Versatile Skills

Inari's Might

Silence

Resolve II or Divine Healing II

Broken Barriers or Resistance III

I am curious to know what setup you had used with Gosaku to truly bring out its best features.

honestly depends on how you want to play, right now im playing terrify build, ghost armor, with fortune charms, I kill half enemies and the other half runs away, thanks to lower ghost stance requirements I can go into it much more frequent, which is another 3 free kills on any enemy even commander, in the time someone makes standoff to kill 5 enemies I have half of the camp cleared or running scared and thats not even the best terrify build I have seen.

I saw build focusing on fear from fire charms, one explosive arrow can set on fire 5 enemies at once and each of those enemies has big chance to terrify someone else, big fights of 10 enemies can be literally finished with single arrow. So its really just how you want to play. I have most fun and best kills with ghost armor and as I wrote I dont even use stealth that much, usually just to get that first kill to start the fight thats it, so talk like ghost armor is just for stealth pff, pure rubbish.

Me personally, I found that the Sarugami armor is most useful during a Lethal playthrough, as the increased difficulty renders any armor increasing your survivability pretty much useless and, by the time you unlock it, you have become skilled enough with the game to perfect parry and dodge consistently, making the armor useful both in fights with mooks and duels.

It's telling that in my Lethal run the point where I had the most trouble was the very final boss, since the game forces you to fight them in the ronin armor (which perks are kinda useless in said fight too).

If you can pull off perfect parries and dodges consistently, Sarugami. Incredibly useful in regular combat and duels.

Personally, I use Ghost for stealth and general combat. I love its terrify perk. For duels, I switch to either Sarugami or Gosaku. These are my top three armors.

If I don't care about having a big advantage in combat, I use Traveler and Fundoshi.

I stopped using the rest of the armors since they either don't fit my playstyle or pale in comparison to my top three.

EDIT: I included some dance of wrath use for the finishing swag to go along with the song

Some notes on this speedrun build.

Kinda OP/not worth it in regular game outside of duels because in Lethal/Lethal+ normal enemies already die in 2-3 hits anyways. With this it pretty much 1 shots every regular enemy and 1-2 shots most non-duel generals.

I have done testing with Sakai Armor aswell and can confirm that the results in the damage are pretty much the same as with Ronin attire equipped, since the buffs for the damage on outfits and the charms are identical.

Some people suggested dropping Inari's might for the 4th Destruction charm for a bit higher change to trigger the Double Damage buff per strikes (getting 67,5% chance instead of my current 56.25%) but IMO that is not worth trading of another MASSIVE melee dmg buff from fully upgrade Inari's might Charm. When that Double Damage buff triggers - you reaaally feel it.

PROS:

Highest possible damage per strike in the game. Especially when the 2x dmg buff triggers.

2x Damage buff (when triggered) applies to BOTH melee and stagger damage (some people didn't know that). You can check that in the video when the buff applies while im staggering them - the posture takes a massive hit. When posture is broken you can see the "shockwave" effect going off.

In some duels, if you are lucky on you 2x dmg buff triggers, you can bypass the forced scripted clash dialogue sequences when the opponent's HP gets downed to a certain level, because your dmg is too high. You can see that in Kojiro duel where he usually has two scripted clashes with dialogue.

If you, like me, don't enjoy the fact that most enemies in duels 1-2 hit kills you, while u still have to hit them 15-20 times and feel like they are damage sponges - this build is the best solution for this problem.

CONS:

To fully "speedrun" duels you have to be on point with your perfect parries, because that's the core reason of this build and your source for max possible dmg. Perfect parrying and baiting into perfect parries are the key elements.

Parries in Lethal+ difficulty have even smaller parry window than in normal Lethal (especially perfect parries/dodges) - so if you are not precise with you timing you most likely gonna get hit and die in 1 or 2 hits.

Resolve gains are very small. But then again - this build wasn't made for that.

What is the best armor for duels in Ghost of Tsushima?

Duels: Equipment and charms We strongly recommend the Samurai Clan Armor, unlocked with the first step of Lady Masako's Tale. This armor is by far the best in the game in terms of defense: it reduces damage taken, increases life and gives you resolve when you take damage.

What is the best Armour in Ghost of Tsushima Reddit?

For my money it's the Gosaku armour. Samurai Clan armor is a good generalist set. Sakai for damage, Gosaku for Stagger, and Ghost for potentially ending fights sooner through Terror. Possibly Mongol Commander Outfit, has tanking for basic combat, and a massive detection reduction for stealth.

Why is Sarugami armor good?

The Sarugami armor, in a sense, buffs your perfect parries with the Heavenly Strike ability. Perfect dodges also damage nearby enemies. You'll see a significant increase in your resolve gains, and your perfect parry/dodge window is broader.

How do you get better at duels Ghost of Tsushima?

If there is one piece of advice I could give to anyone wanting to get better at duels in Ghost of Tsushima, It would be this. Master the perfect parry. Not only does this defensive tactic stop you from taking damage from what would be a brutal attack, it also allows you to inflict serious damage on the enemy.
