AEM and Injen seem to run around $200, the Mazdaspeed is $250 if you know where to look. I think the extra $50 is worth the peace of mind. But I was just comparing to the Injen and AEM.

I get peace of mind keeping my 250- 300 and going turbo... but that's me. Search around, you'll find some threads with dyno results of several of the intakes on the market for the 3. You'll be surprised with some of the prices/ results of the intakes.

The Mazda 3 Turbo Short Ram Intake (SRI) takes the place of the restrictive OEM intake system and delivers a better performing option that produces more power and sound from your 2.5L SkyActiv Turbo. Additional benefits also come from the 2021-up Mazda 3 Cold Air Intake I in the form of efficiency and improved aesthetics under the hood. Each piece of the CS intake kit was designed with both form and function in mind to provide the best package for your 2.5L SkyActiv Turbo Mazda 3 and CX-30. The additional power gained from the CS SRI was measured at 9-13whp and also added some awesome turbo noise and it can all be installed in as quickly as 30 minutes!

The CorkSport Advantage

Best cold air intake for mazda 3

Fit, Function, & Performance:

The Mazda 3 2.5L SkyActiv Turbo was the main focus for the design of this CorkSport Short Ram Intake. The kit integrates a precision machined billet aluminum MAF housing, laser cut mounting bracket, reinforced laminar flow silicone elbow and high flow dry-element air filter to achieve the quality fit and performance that is achieved with the CS SRI.

Sound:

From the factory, the stock air box leaves room on the table to improve the overall driving experience of your Mazda 3 Turbo. One of these key areas includes the sound you hear from your engine. The CorkSport Short Ram Intake unleashes satisfying noises from your turbo and bypass valve which leads to a smile on your face every time you go for a drive. If you haven’t watched the product video yet, it will give you a better idea of the added turbo sound.

Bolt On Performance:

The improved flow and efficiency gained from the CS Short Ram Intake contributes to an additional 9-13whp and 9-12wtq around 5600rpm and can be achieved with no tuning or check engine lights.

Precision Machined:

The CorkSport MAF housings are machined out of 6061-T6 billet aluminum using a CNC to maintain tight tolerances. It is important to achieve this level of tolerance because the MAF sensor is responsible for capturing the amount of air flowing into the engine and is crucial to achieve proper air fuel ratios and drivability.

Laminar Flow:

The main reason behind the increase in performance from the CS Short Ram Intake is attributed to the decrease in turbulence in the intake. This is achieved by replacing the OEM ribbed intake elbow that has a varying internal size, with a smooth 4-ply reinforced silicone elbow. This change helps reduces turbulence which results in increased power and efficiency.

Dry-Flow Filter:

Keeping unwanted debris out of the engine is critical to ensure reliable and long lasting performance. For this reason, the Mazda 3 Turbo Short Ram Intake system includes a 3.5” Dry-Flow Air Filter to provide excellent filtration and airflow that is also washable and reusable.

I just installed the intake and heat shield on my '21 CX-30 Turbo. It took a little under an hour as I took my time to do a good job. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the final product looks great under the hood, because, as always, Corksport makes a quality-looking product.

I can hear some whoosh from the turbo, but it is not obnoxious. The CX-30 has excellent engine isolation which makes for comfortable cruising. Hearing it remote start from the outside was pretty sweet as it had a throatier growl, but it settles down nicely. Not sure it's my imagination but the car feels peppier off the line. Now both ends of the car are finished with the Corksport exhaust at the rear and the SRI up front. Great job CS!

A must have, opens up lots of potential

I couldn't agree more with the other reviews about this product in regards to the easy install and awesome sound it makes when the turbo spools up! The only negative is I don't play music as much because I want to hear the intake. Install was about 20 minutes.
I added the heat shield later which was a good addition to help reduce hot air as it uses the OEM intake to bring in outside air. Make sure to keep the OEM box if you don't plan on buying the heat shield right away.

This thing is a snap to install, and I can never get tired of the induction noise. I've sampled a few competitors designs and this paired with the heat shield is easily my favorite. You can even improve MPG if you can manage your thirst for turbo noises.

Aaron M 09/02/2022, 09:55 AM

Is everything corksport advertises. I've had the SRI with heat shield on for about two weeks. Noticed immediate improved acceleration and gas mileage as you would expect. Car now sounds like a turbo should! Great product, zero issues so far.

High end product, easy to install, and gives an amazing result !!!

Pierre-Yves Arsenault 06/22/2022, 04:36 PM

Great product, very clean and clear instructions to read especially with the color coded layout. Probably took me about 25-40 min to install and was taking my time with the install. Did not want to rush and mess anything up but this setup makes the engine bay look cleaner in my opinion. Hopefully there will be replacement filters to order off here in the near future so I can stock up on a few since I live in Vegas and gets really dusty here.

Had one of these for my 2016 Mazda 3, and now I have one for my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo and wow what a difference. Hearing the turbo spool makes driving so much more fun. If you were to only get one upgrade for your car, this is the one.

Cameron C 04/22/2022, 07:40 AM

slapped this bad boy on in 20 minutes. easy peasy. hit second gear and you can hear your 3 tubo come alive. what a transformation. you never knew your mazda 3 turbo was such a bad ass until you bolt this thing own. just buy it.

Scott Hawx 03/30/2022, 06:01 PM

Install was pretty easy! A couple things though. Worst part was pushing out and in the rubber grommets and praying they were in correctly. Also my 3mm bolts were TIGHT, I thought I was going to snap my hex key trying to take them out before putting in the MAF sensor.

The sounds are seriously amazing. 100% worth it to open up those noises.

How can I improve my Mazda 3 performance?

For low-maintenance upgrades, you can try adding an air intake to improve airflow or improve the exhaust with performance exhaust systems. More advanced upgrades may include ECU tuning, which can help increase the power output of your vehicle.

How much HP do cold air intakes add?

Cold Air Intakes are said to improve your vehicle's performance by 5-20 horsepower. This number will vary depending on the make and model of your vehicle. While this isn't enough power to put you back in your seat, it will give your car or truck a little pep in its step.

Do I need a tune if I add cold air intake?

Yes. To put it simply, anytime you modify the airflow in an engine you will need a custom tune to compensate for the change. There are intakes that don't modify the airflow enough to where you need a custom tune so identifying which one you have is important.

Is cold air intake good for your engine?

A cold air intake system is an excellent car mod that will improve the cooling capabilities of your engine. It increases the flow of oxygen to your combustion chamber by providing cool, dense air.
