Best value would be a combination of everything. When you get close to beating a game list it on craiglist for like $45 or $50. If not serious bites and you want to get rid of it or upgrade, time to look at tradein prices.

Bestbuy usually has the best flat rate prices for tradeins, plus you earn 2x reward points for every $ of tradein so not a bad deal. Target and Walmart are pretty hit or miss with trade ins but definitely worth checking their sites to see what they're worth. Gamestop is probably 2nd best as a whole behind best buy since they're usually running some promotion for like 30% or higher bonus trade in when you put it towards a list of new games (usually just about any worthwhile game).

Amazon can also be a decent alternative and it will fluctuate pretty frequently so worth tracking it for a week or so, plus it's free shipping on the tradein so pretty hassle free.

Overall the best option is always craiglist for cash and higher value, but it's not always that easy and can take some effort to make the trade which some people want to skip. Other than that just check all the websites for promotions and try to compare prices. Also keep in mind that where you get store credit is where you'll be buying your next game. So trading in at bestbuy if you put that $$ on a preorder you'll get a $10 reward certificate for free at the time of purchase, all about timing your deals right and finding the right combination.

So I go to CEX (pronounced sex haha) to trade some games, guy on the counter accepts most, but tells me one has 'laser damage'. Guy is full of shit - as I played the game for some hours the day before. I tell him it's fine - test it, he tells me (in his mumbling moron tone) we sell our games with 12 month warranty so we can't accept it. As I leave the store I remember I bought it from them less than a year ago but whatever, I'm not wasting my time looking for receipts.

I go to gamestation, who offer me £1 - I'm like 'awww fuck ok whatever'. Now they want 2 forms of ID. I have driving license, paper counterpart, credit card and goverment proof of age photo ID. Guy tells me he can't accept driving license just in case I have moved house and not updated it. WTfuckingF. Asshole actually thinks he is some fucking undercover investigator? Singlehandedly battling sneaky people, who go stealing games - not updating their ID (which the police WOULD obviously be able to trace anyhow) and rolling around in their motel room on mattresses covered in £1 coins????? Come one you fucking jobsworth monkeys use a morsel of common sense. Anyway I told them to keep it and stormed out like a divá.

So, in conclusion, from now on I will be only trading with Asda or Blockbuster. And CEX and gamestation, if you are reading this, I hate you.

My brother has an old Xbox and a few games (one of them is a collector’s edition) but my tv is no longer compatible with it so I don’t have any use for it. I heard GameStop is abit iffy with trading and Bestbuy is pretty good. But what other places would you recommend to trade?

Just sell locally using facebook or craigslist (kijiji if in canada). You will get way more then if you were to trade it in anywhere.

You're better off selling it online. Trading in devices is practically chump change considering you spent a lot of money on that device or devices and barely get anything in return.

If it were me, I’d keep it and buy an older tv at a secondhand shop. You will be glad you kept it if you do.

They sell adapters so almost any tv will work, if making a connection is the issue.

Well if no body want to buy it privately, then yeah go ahead and sell it to the retailers (better than letting the console collect dust especially if it doesn't mean much anymore).
