Best time to take sertraline Reddit

I've posted here before, really worried and anxious about starting my prescription because of the long horrendous looking side effects. However, I spoke to my doctor again and got some guidance and reassurance, and I now believe this is something I want to try so I can work to getting myself back. I've been prescribed 50mg to start with to help with my GAD and panic.

I was wondering though, what are peoples experience with the best time in the day to take it. Ive heard it makes you feel drowsy so take it a night but just wanted to get some thoughts.

Any comments and discussions are appreciated.

I take it with breakfast. I'm also on Wellbutrin because it does well countering some of the major side effects. I have to take the Wellbutrin twice a day.

I was prescribed to take it at night, but it gave me insomnia, so I just switched to the morning. Now that I've been on it for a while, even if I forget to take it in the morning, and take it in the evening, I don't really have that hard of a time sleeping.

Generally, I found that after about 6 mos I only noticed one or two side effects.

Hi everyone,I just started 50mg of Sertraline Saturday, for anxiety, and was wondering if others who also take/have taken it could let me know the time of day that worked best for you regarding best avoiding certain side effects early on. Also with/without food. Thanks for any insight :)

Today was my first dose of Z at noon and i was very tired, i don’t know if that was because the Z or because i was just tired or starting a new med or my period or all the above. I’ve heard about not sleeping at night and taking it with food so that’s why i tried it out at noon today.

I take it in the evening, and my sleep is shit. I've been thinking of switching to morning, but that would require waking up at a consistent hour...

level 2

were you super tired throughout the days ?

I just switched from night to morning and mood wise I like morning better for me. My sleep has been all over the place since I started working from home last week so I can't say if morning has helped with better sleep or not. I also don't necessarily take it at the same time every morning, sometimes I have variations up to 3 hours and that hasn't had any negative impact on me when I've done it.

My kid is prescribed it and she takes hers at around 7-8am everyday, and her Doctors all say morning is best. Hope that helps!

level 2

yes! I just don’t want to take it every day and be as tired as i was today!

She was complaining of being tired for a few weeks as well. Noticed a change in her sleep habits after about a month.

Generally, SSRI's such as Zoloft are taken in the morning. I'm still having heart palpitations when taking the full 200mg for a few months so I decided to take it at night. By the time I get up, the palpitations are not as bad.

i was prescribed 25 and cut it in half today just to see how i would feel i hope in a few days i do 25

Mine is prescribed to be taken in the morning

Used to take it when I wake up, caused a lot of fatigue and made it difficult to sleep, changed to night and though the fatigue is there when waking up it's not so bad throughout the day, I can also sleep easier now but unfortunately I wake up at about 7-9am without fail every day, I then proceed to fall back asleep a couple hours after waking up and end up waking up at like 12pm.

I take mine at night. I know it’s probably not the best but with school I’m the morning and my irregular wake up times(anywhere from 9AM to 6PM) it’s kinda necessary. I would always get loopy in class. I don’t think I’d have those side effects anymore though since I’ve been taking it for a couple years but I still prefer it a lot. I don’t really notice a difference in my sleep schedule- but to be fair I’ve always been a night owl and I would regularly stay up until 3AM as a young kid (7-8) and it’s still like that. It’s 3:50 AM right now lol. Take it in the mornings unless you have to be focused

level 2

Still in school so that would affect my focus by taking in the morning ?

I tried morning and I’m dizzy all day, can’t get anything done. Now I’m trying nights and not getting any sleep. So I’m just as out of it during the day. Idk what to do.

Listen to classical piano or meditation music for a few nights.
