Hello, stumbled across this forum looking for help. I have an 05 Duramax that Ive had a Bullydog PMT on for a couple years with no issues. Recently, I had to have an EGR valve put on at the dealership. Ever since getting the truck back there seems to be no difference between stock/tow/performance settings. everything on the screen works, pyro boost etc. I towed my camper home the other night and theres just no power, 65mph at 2500rpm.
Checked the fuse where it plugs into the port below the dash, its fine.
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated!!!

most of the time when you take your truck in and you got a tuner there computer cant read the trucks computers so they reflash the trucks computer which erases the tunners inputs.

So, what can I do to fix? I think I need to probably update the pmt? On the right track?

you can upgrade if you want. i upgraded my bully dog tripple dog gt tuner the other day all that was in the upgrade was new background colors. not sure whats in the pmt upgrades. if they did flash your trucks computer, you need to reflash or download your tuner into your trucks computer again.

its doin the same thing when you first got the tuner. after you pluged it in to the obd2 connector you had to do some theings on the screen, its doing the things on the screen again. i know with my bully dog on the screen there a option that says download or download tunes. when you select that it downloads or reflashes the computer with the new tunes from the tuner.

Alright, after I installed my 600$ , yes SIX HUNDRED dollar bulldog gt tuner I got a unwanted lope on deceleration.. Then a nasty shudder in cruise control going downhill, a horrible miss shortly followed when pulling off from a dead stop and a loss of fuel mileage.. So I carried on to try and fix the problems.. Dropped the tank twice looking for clogged socks or a deteriorated boot, replaced several fuel bowl filters, removed fuel bowl and cleaned with no lee-way, tried bb mod and it got worse, upgraded to aftermarket regulator with no fix.. Next I tried the synthetic oil which was a waste of time.. I replaced the cps with no luck. Checked the voltage across the glow plug solenoid and it tested good.. Paid a 'ford certified' guy to test the fuel pressure, clean the fuel lines and drop the tank again for another WASTE of 500$$!! Finally took it to ford for a 2000$ bull#### quote of it needing a PCM because of a memory loss code because of the tuner.. So, now that I am considering selling the truck a friend tells me that his dad had bad luck with a programmer on his 7.3.. I proceeded to my truck, uninstalled the programmer to find my truck running like NEW again!!:bowfast::evil: I contacted bulldog 3 times with no answer or return of email.. I read that a 'universal' tuner is #### but opted to get it because if the cool screen.. Maybe this will help some other poor soul like I save time and money if he is having issues with a programmed 7.3.. I'm lookng at other options now, like sending my PCM off and having it directly programmed.. Sorry for the long post but I figured I'd cover it all at once :rockwoot:

Re: Bulldog GT problems

Just put a chip in it from any of the reputable dealers and tuners on here and you will be good to go. I learned that lesson first hand from seeing all the bright shinny adds saying how great there stuff was and such,( edge superchips). Then I sat down and started reading up on stuff and stopped just buying the so called latest and greatest thing out. Finally just sold off two programmers which paid for my PHP Hydra chip. World of difference. Oh and Welcome!!

Bullydog, that's your whole problem. Rip some poor kid off on craigslist and use that money to get a chip

Yeah jtg, the problem was I wanted that screen to show all my friends how cool I was lol.. I bought the whole line that if it is expensive it's worth it.. Never again without research!! Looking back I can't believe I bought that thing blind but I'm really drawn to that 60 hp tow flash over there at dptuner. And thanks for the welcome!

Re: Bulldog GT problems

Jeremiah, I'm a little south of AU but pretty close! I appreciate that my man, it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find a knowledgable soul or mechanic to talk to about these powerstrokes around my town.. It's always, 'well let's throw some parts on it and see if it works'.. Its sad that I know more about my diesel than a ford certified mechanic because I know how to hop on here and do some research.. Iv only had my 7.3 for 2 years now.. Never owned one before.. I told ford to park my truck outside after I had to explain where the ebpv is haha.. Thanks for the comps by the way! It doesnt take long to have wayy too much money sittin in one of these lol.
