Can Amazon refund a visa gift card

When you return an item, your eligibility for a refund and how your refund is issued, may differ based on a number of factors, including how long you have had the item, how the item was purchased and the reason for the return.

Change of mind returns of items fulfilled by Amazon AU must be returned in accordance with the terms set out in our Returns Policies.

How Refunds Are Issued

Most refunds are issued based on the payment method used at the time of purchase.

Refund Timelines

It may take 1-5 business days after we receive the item(s) to process your refund. Once we have, we'll email you to let you know that we have processed your refund. If we haven't let you know, we haven't received or processed your return yet.

AmazonGlobal items can take up to 5-7 days to reach us once you ship them. The amount will be refunded in AUD, and is according to the conversion rate at the time the refund was issued.

After we've received and processed your return, you can expect to receive your refund in the following timelines:

Note: In cases where the original payment method is a credit card or a Zip account, we may process a refund via Gift Card balance upon your request, or if the refund cannot be made to the original payment method used for payment.

Checking the Status of Your Refund

You can check the status of your refund in Your Orders.

If your refund is not showing as refunded, and the processing time for your payment method has passed, you can contact us for further assistance.

The Returns Support Centre allows gift recipients to return items fulfilled by Amazon AU if they were marked as a gift at the time of purchase. Alternatively, gift recipients can return their items using gift receipts shared by the gift giver. The type of refund or credit that you receive depends on how the gift was purchased and how it's returned. All refunds are subject to our refund policies.

Note: Not all items are eligible for prepaid return options. When an item is eligible, you'll see the options in the process.

Can Amazon refund a visa gift card

Step by step instructions when you do not have a gift receipt:

  1. Go to the Returns Support Centre, and click Return a gift. If prompted, log in to your Amazon AU account. If you don't have an account you'll need to create one.
  2. Enter the order number for the item that you want to return and click Search.

    Note: Your 17-digit order number (or "Order ID") is found on the left side of your packing slip. If you don't have the packing slip, you can contact us. We'll ask for information to help us locate the order, such as the sender's name, their email address, their phone number, and information about the item that you want to return.

  3. Select the items that you want to return, enter the quantity of items that you want to return, and then select a return reason from the drop-down menu.

    Note: For items sold and fulfilled by a third-party seller, you'll see Submit return request. Some Amazon sellers review return requests before approving them.

  4. Click Continue.

    Note: If you're a gift recipient and the item is not marked as a gift at the time of purchase, you will see a message requesting you to contact Customer Service. Please contact us so we can assist you with the return.

  5. Select your preferred return method. Your return label or code will be generated.

    Note: If the return isn't the result of an Amazon AU error or a faulty item, return shipping costs will be deducted from your refund.

  6. If you receive a return label, print your label and return authorisation, put the return authorisation inside your package and attach the label to the outside of it. Some returns won't require you to print a label or authorisation.

    Note: If you need to print your return label and don't have a printer when you're completing your return, you can print later (we'll email you a link to your label), or you can have someone else print your label for you.

  7. Send us your return package as per the instructions provided with the return label or code.

Note:

  • If you're the gift recipient, Amazon AU will process your refund as an amazon.com.au gift card after your return is received. The gift card will be added directly to the Amazon AU account that you used to initiate your return. If you're the gift giver, you'll receive a refund to the original payment method. All refunds are subject to our refund policies outlined in our Help page about Refunds. All return and refund rights that we offer you apply in addition to other rights and remedies that you may have under law including under the Australian Consumer Law.
  • Gift recipients won't be offered an exchange or instant refund option.
  • If you're offered a prepaid return label or code, please be aware that each of these labels or codes is assigned to a specific return. To make sure that you receive the correct refund, please don't include items from multiple orders or deliveries in the same box.
  • If you return items in which you've saved personal information, such as laptops, cameras, or other electronic devices, you must erase this information completely before sending the product back to us.
  • A-to-z refund requests for gifts purchased from a third-party seller must be requested by the original purchaser, not the gift returner. If you need to request a refund under A-to-z Guarantee for a gift return, please contact the original purchaser.
