Can Eevee evolve with a water Stone?

Eevee is one of the most unique Pokémon of them all because of how it evolves. While there all sorts of interesting methods of evolution for individual Pokémon, Eevee is one of the few creatures that can change in multiple ways, each yielding a unique ally depending on what you do.

In this guide we’ll break down all of the Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Sword and Shield and how to evolve or catch that version.

First, here are all of the Eevee evolutions available in Pokémon Sword and Shield:

  • Espeon (Psychic)
  • Flareon (Fire)
  • Glaceon (Ice)
  • Jolteon (Electric)
  • Leafeon (Grass)
  • Sylveon (Fairy)
  • Umbreon (Dark)
  • Vaporeon (Water)

How to evolve Eevee

Most of Eevee’s evolutions require an evolution stone, which is one of the easiest methods for getting the upgraded creature you want. Stones can be found here. Keep in mind that if you get a free Eevee early on in the game because you have a save file for Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee, you can’t evolve it.

Below are the Eevee that evolve with stones:

  • Flareon: Fire Stone
  • Glaceon: Ice Stone
  • Jolteon: Thunder Stone
  • Leafeon: Leaf Stone
  • Vaporeon: Water Stone

Eevee’s three other evolutions require you to raise your friendship to at least level three (here’s how to raise friendship levels) and then, based on a second condition listed below, they will change once you level them up next:

  • Sylveon: Must know a fairy-type move
  • Espeon: Must not know a fairy-type move and level it up during the day
  • Umbreon: Must not know a fairy-type move and level it up during the night

Catching Eevee evolutions

You can also catch several of the Eevee evolutions based on the weather. Not only that, the area where you can find them is also a prime location to find all the evolution stones you need for Eevee and other Pokémon that require stone evolutions.

Once you’re able to ride on water with your Rotom Bike, head to the Lake of Outrage.
