Regional gift restrictions: Can I change my region and buy a game in a friend's region as a gift, then change back to get around restrictions?

I want to buy a game for a friend in a different region but cant. I don't mind paying for it in their region's price/currency. Thanks!

Send your friend a digital gift card. Changing regions isn't as easy as you imagine it to be.

I'd rather not send a gift card. It's a game that I'm not sure if he's going to like or not. I'd rather get him the game, than a gift card he can spend on anything and might regret spending on the game I want to get him. And I dont want to have to go through explaining everything to him, just want to send the game. Steam is idiotic for this policy. It should just give you the option to buy at his region's price - so many lost sales because of this. I guess they dont want my money.

But later then all people will only go to that region to buy game and steam lost a lot of money.

Can you gift games on Steam from another region?

In most cases, there are no region restrictions on products purchased directly from the Steam store. However, products purchased as gifts may have region restrictions. Please see the gifts section for more information. How will I know if a product has region restrictions?

Is changing Steam region Bannable?

Keep in mind, Steam only lets you change your region once every three months. You also have to make a purchase to set your new location as your default country. Steam reserves the right to ban your account if you're caught spoofing to get better deals.
