HEAR YE! HEAR YE! THERE BE SPOILERS AHEAD! YE'VE BEEN WARNED!

I've been going through the game trying to run a "This is going to be my primary world state" and basing each and every decision on the future implications it could possibly have in the next Dragon Age. It occurs to me the biggest possible influence on future events may just be the choice made at the Well of Sorrows.

As we know, whoever drank from the Well is bound to the will of Mythal. We know now that Flemeth is (was?) partly Mythal. Given what occurred between her and Solas, there are a handful of possibilities regarding future ramifications.

1. Solas absorbed Mythal's essence from Flemeth. That would give Solas control over whomever drank from the well. That could effectively place either Morrigan or the Inquisitor in a villain role in the next game. They may not even know it.

2. Solas killed Flemeth, releasing Mythal's remaining essence. Mythal would naturally seek out another host. Who better than the one who drank from the Well. That person would no longer be... that person.

3. Solas killed Mythal entirely (highly unlikely), or sent what remained of her through the Fade so she wouldn't interfere. Thus whoever drank from the Well has nothing to worry about.

The possibility of option 1 and option 2 leave me in a bit of a bind, given that I like Morrigan and I like my Inquisitor, and I'd rather not screw either one over in such a manner, but if this is the case, I have to choose one, and I'm not sure who.

Late night thought processes!

By the edge of those wilds, warriors have charged. But now the years have passed, the generals have left and the grass grows in the armours hollow on the hill.

Very good points! Without spoilers, can anyone say whether this comes up in Trespasser? #2 would be fairly instantaneous, I'd assume. And given the post-game state in Skyhold, I didn't notice any change to Morrigan (she drank from the Well in my playthrough)—she's just inexplicably standing around in the garden, still, but doesn't appear to have been altered.

(Then again, the scene with Solas and Flemeth could be happening at some later, indeterminate point. The slides that follow the end of the main campaign seem to presage events in the future, after all.)

#1 is quite eerie! I'm glad I opted to have Morrigan go for the Well; I mean, girl WANTED it. My Inky is just dwarf that was in the wrong place at the wrong time…

You really should have put a spoilers warning in the topic title.

You really shouldn't require a spoiler tag when the topic title is in regards to an event near the end of the main game, with the word "ramifications" next to it.

By it's very title, it will contains spoilers.

Right, because people that haven't played the game or haven't gotten very far would know that obvious piece of information. Good thinking there.

Those people have no right to complain about spoilers than. If the topic is in regards to something you haven't yet reached in the game and you stick your face into said topic, you've just willingly subjected yourself to future information and on that basis, have no right nor place to complain. People will; naturally. It's the internet and their day isn't properly or completely satisfied until such time as they have fulfilled their righteous indignation quota, but that's neither my problem nor my concern.

I will however, edit the first post to reflect that it contains spoilers in order to assuage some of the more... defensively cautionary types.

Good day to you sir.

And to you, sir.

How nice of you to think of others and edit your post after such a delightful speech. Cheers.

I sincerely believe this is the case, that Solas has absorbed Flemeth's power. What we saw Flemeth release into the Eluvian was either the Old God essence she got from Keiren or something else.

Solas clearly absorbed the essence of Mythal to regain his strength but it is unclear if it stops there. Did he just use her to recharge his batteries? Or did he absorb any of her abilities as well? Solas's last mural depicts a dragon/wolf hybrid so it's possible he acquired her transformation ability.

My canon Inquisitor is a female elf who romances him. I'd like to think this will give him pause if he ever attempts to influence her, assuming he does have the power. I think I prefer to have my Inquisitor drink. First, because she is romancing him he may be reluctant to use this power. Second, I love my Warden and Morrigan as a couple and don't want this to tear them apart.

I do question if we have truly seen the last of Flemeth. She is obviously a very cautious person, as evident from DA2 when she sent Hawke away with that amulet with a piece of her soul.

I read that the Well is briefly mentioned once. Very slight spoiler.

Someone speaks elven to the Inquisitor and he/she will consult the voices from the Well for a translation, or so I read.

since it is a choice I suspect it will be handled similarly to the dark ritual from DAO.

Besides if its in the keep it shouldn't matter. I had to input everything manually, if you don't like your choice change it without having to play again.

Sorry but shouldnt there be 4th possibility? I mean variation from 2nd.. flemeth does put something in eluvia even if kieran isnt in game.. for me it cant be old gods soul, but what-if she putted something for morrigan to find? Flemeth has shown pretty forward thinking in series so far, and that in mind.. in 2nd possibility morrigan drinks and gets her freedom.. but what-if inky drinks and morrigan find that something and ends up getting full control of inky?

Just an idea thats been stuck in my head for a while.

Does it matter who drinks from the well of sorrows?

Known Consequences Of Drinking The Well The well bestows great knowledge to whoever drinks from it (but in a way that can be overwhelming, according to Cole). Whoever drinks from the well will hear the voices of Mythal's servants, and they are the ones who give the drinker knowledge.

Does Solas want you to drink the well?

Solas is about as emotional and unguarded as we've ever seen him. SOLAS: I begged you not to drink from the Well!

Can you still drink from the well if you ally with the elves?

If you completed the elven rituals, Abelas offers you an alliance which you can accept or refuse. If you accept, then Abelas states that regardless, the Well will not be despoiled.

What type of ELF is Solas?

In the post-credits scene it is revealed that Solas is Fen'Harel, an ancient being who is a member of the elven pantheon of gods, and a recurring trickster figure in Dragon Age lore.
