Can u still play Jump Force online?

Regular online matches should still be available

Earlier this year in February, Bandai Namco pulled its all-star fighting game Jump Force from the Nintendo Switch eShop and multiple other platforms.

This week, scheduled maintenance was spotted (via the Twitter account @NinStatusBot), which raised some eyebrows. This is the second phase of the shutdown. As of 24th/25th August (depending on your timezone), certain online content for Jump Force has now officially ended.

This shutdown means players can no longer log into the multiplayer lobby, participate in online events, use clan functions, view notices and leaderboards, access the in-game store and premium shop, or participate in ranked matches.

Regular online battles (quick matches and friendly) will apparently still be available, provided you're subscribed to the Switch Online service. Jump Force made its debut on the Nintendo Switch in 2020, and its removal - including the shutdown of online services, was originally announced last November.

Bandai Namco previously issued the following message, thanking players for their support:

"Our sincere thanks goes out to all Jump Force players and fans for their support; but with all good things, they must come to an end."

Did you ever play this game in the end? Would you like to see a Jump Force sequel? Tell us in the comments.

If you didn’t heed Bandai Namco’s warning regarding Jump Force, it’s officially too late.

The publisher confirmed on Twitter it removed the game and its character pack DLC from all virtual storefronts. Also, players can no longer purchase virtual currency.

Bandai Namco also confirmed it will remove some online functionality from Jump Force on August 24. This includes online events, clan functions, viewing the Notice Board, viewing the leaderboards, the in-game store, online ranked matches, logging into the multiplayer lobby, and accepting rewards from the Reward Counter.

The Premium Shop will remain open until August 1.

The good news is you can still play Jump Force offline. Online multiplayer PvP will also remain intact, though there’s no telling when Bandai Namco will take that offline.

Finally, any DLC purchased before today’s delisting will work just fine.

Jump Force released in February 2019 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game also released on the Nintendo Switch in August 2020.

On one hand, the game saw some success. The Game Awards 2019 and 2020’s DICE Awards nominated Jump Force for the best fighting game of 2019.

However, its critical reception was lukewarm at best. Jump Force currently carries a top critic average of 57 on OpenCritic, with general criticism including dull gameplay, a disappointing story, and a polarizing art style.

Here’s hoping this doesn’t dissuade others from making a crossover fighting game. Jump Force features 40 playable characters from several Shonen Jump properties, including Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and more.

It was cool to see Bleach’s Ichigo Kurosaki go up against Dragon Ball’s Goku. That said, the game featured some questionable fighters. I’m not sure who gave the green light to Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh, for example.

At least the game has a strong community, with its subreddit boasting over 39,000 members.

Why is Jump Force no longer available?

Jump Force no longer available for purchase on digital platforms. The main reason for being delisted boils down to the expiration of licensing for some of the manga characters. For a game that's representing over a dozen franchises, it doesn't come as a surprise.
