Can you still get Malfeasance 2022

Destiny 2 Malfeasance is an Exotic quest which debuted with Forsaken in Year 2.

First revealed several weeks after the expansion's debut, there was a dose of luck to first unlocking the Malfeasance quest - which has since been made easier over the years.

From there, there are several Taken and Gambit-centric steps required to then get Malfeasance in your hands.

How to get the Destiny 2 Malfeasance

In brief, the Malfeasance quest unfolds as follows:

  1. Kill a Primeval in Gambit
  2. Speak to the Drifter in the Tower
  3. Defeat 25 Taken yellow bar enemies
  4. Complete 'The Corrupted' Strike
  5. Deposit Motes and win matches in Gambit
  6. Defeat 25 opposing Guardians in Gambit, and team wipe as an invader yourself or have an ally do it three times

Getting the Destiny 2's Malfeasance step-by-step and how to spawn Ascendant Primeval Servitor

Since the arrival of the Witch Queen in Year 5, starting the Malfeasance quest is much easier - requiring you now kill one Primeval in a Gambit match (in other words, winning the match).

Previously, this involved playing Gambit matches until a Ascendant Primeval Servitor appeared - which required a dose of luck - and then also winning the match.

The Ascendant Primeval Servitor previously guarded the way to starting the Malfeasance quest.

This was even more difficult on the mode's debut, which saw the Ascendant Primeval Servitor spawn tied to The Dreaming City curse cycle, but with mechanics changing over time, all you now need to do is win a Gambit match to get the quest underway.

Once you have started, visit the Drifter (like any other Exotic quest, there is a vendor attached you must visit between steps) who will then tell you to defeat 25 Taken bosses or mini-bosses.

These are essentially Taken enemies with yellow bars, and tend to be rarer and more difficult than regular enemies. The Dreaming City will have plenty, especially if you tackle missions and public events. Of course, other areas will have yellow bar enemies, as well as certain Strikes.

Our recommendation is to play the game as normal and slowly get through these as you go, but if you're in a hurry, then prioritizing The Dreaming City activities would be your best bet.

After that, you have to complete a special version of 'The Corrupted' strike. Interestingly, though up to six players can play this - as though only three players can be in your immediate Fireteam when you enter, more can join your party mid-strike to help you complete it - Bungie says it was only intended for three, and you may encounter problems as you play. So do so at your own risk!

With that done, it's time to switch to Gambit. The first step has you win Gambit matches and deposit Motes. For the latter, there's a catch, as lost Mote will deposit from your total. Not only that, but the lost Motes will have twice the impact than those gained, so you'll want to play cautiously.

The Season of Plunder is here! New additions include the Sails of the Shipstealer quest, Treasure Coordinates and Map Fragments, Cryptic Quatrains and weapons such as the Quicksilver Storm and Taipan 4FR. Meanwhile, there's the arrival of King's Fall and King's Fall challenges such as Devious Theory and Gaze Amaze, plus weapons including Doom of Chelchis and Touch of Malice. Elsewhere, we've seen the return of Allied Demand in Iron Banner this season. Get up to speed with our levelling guide ahead of tackling the Duality dungeon, and learn how to collect Calus Bobblehead locations, Calus Automaton locations and find all Opulent Key chests. For The Witch Queen, learn how to get Exotics including Dead Messenger and Parasite.

The final step has you defeat a total of 25 Guardians in Gambit (in other words, other players) whether they are invading your side, or you're invading yours. The other part has you completely wipe the opposing team's four players in a single invasion (we recommend having a Super ready when you enter) or have an ally do that a total of three times across as many matches as it takes - whatever comes first.

These last two steps are tricky if you're not proficient in Gambit, so we recommend practice and, if you can, playing with a Fireteam. Communication really helps, as does having some useful Supers, which can turn the tide of a match as well as help complete specific objectives.

With that complete, it's time to return to the Drifter to pick up your brand new Malfeasance. Remember that Exotic weapon questlines are one of the few sources of Powerful Gear, so if you can, be over 500 and wait as late as you can to get it to receive a decent boost to your level.
