Can all hair be straightened?
Evy & Bio ionics permanent straightening can be performed on most hair, including coloured & bleached (only with an experienced straightening technician).

It is not suitable for very fine, weak and damaged hair, these clients achieve best results with the Magic Sleek (permanent or semi permanent) & AGI ONE smoothing (semi).

When is the best time to colour my hair if I'm planning to have my hair straightened ?
It is very important that no colour is applied 10 days prior to straightening and 14 days after with Evy and Bio ionic. Colour can lighten a little bringing out warmth of colours.

Magic Sleek you can colour anytime, although you are best to colour after as it does lighten the hair 1-2 shades. 

If there is a regrowth of more than approx 2cm then have the regrowth coloured prior, especially for blondes and lighter colours. Semis and tints are best left until after as the straightening does remove colour intensity, unless regrowth is larger than 2cm, then have roots coloured and not the ends.

When is the best time to have my hair cut If I'm to have my hair straightened?
If you are having a fair amount cut off or your ends are very split and not in good condition then prior to straightening is best (we can do this prior to straightening). Otherwise it is best after to have a style cut as your hair sits different with straightening. A quick trim is included in the straightening price.

What is the downtime with straightening and treatments?
Evy and Bio Ionic Permanent - 3 days (72hrs) hair cannot be washed, wet, clipped or tied back, no ocean or chlorine swimming for 14 days. Avoid excessive exercise for 3 days as scalp perspiration can affect results.

Do I still need to iron or blowdry my hair after semi/permanent straightening?
Yes, even people with naturally straight hair "style" their hair. However the amount of time and effort spent is dramatically reduced. Do I need to use special shampoo and conditioner once I have permanent straightening ?
It is highly recommended to use the carefully selected range of shampoo & conditioners available in store & online to keep the hair in optimum condition. Magic Sleek & AGI ONE range of aftercare is specifically recommended for these services.

How often do I need to have my regrowth touched up with permanent straightening?
Regrowth can be straightened once there is approx 3 months growth, or approx 3-4cm. Most clients last 6 to 9 months before they need this. It all depends on how curly & frizzy the client is at the root area & how good they are at straightening their regrowth before it starts to bother them.

How much does a regrowth touch up cost?

The price for regrowth is similar or the same as the initial straightening, this is because the service is identical to the first service except the product differs from the regrowth to the ends. Clients with long hair will find the regrowth less than initial service.

Do I need to put treatments in my hair after Permanent Straightening?
Permanent straightening will change the texture of your hair to feel like you have had the most amazing treatment you could imagine. We find the hair in better condition than before the service. Because it is a chemical service it is good to give treatments especially on hair that is highly coloured.

How to look after your hair post hair straightening treatments

Post treatment care for Magic Sleek 

• No swimming in salt or chlorine or lightening hair for 10 days after treatment.  Swimming in fresh water is ok.
• Colouring, other than lightening hair can be done right away.
• You can wash, wet, put hair up & exercise immediately.
• Suitable during pregnancy & lactating. 
• Use products recommended in salon for aftercare

Post treatment care for AGI ONE 

• You can colour your hair straight away, however it is best to lighten prior & then have AGI ONE on bleached hair. 
• You can wash, wet,  put up your hair & exercise immediately. 
• No swimming in salt or chlorine or lightening hair for 10 days after treatment.  Swimming in fresh water is ok.
• Use products recommended in salon for aftercare. 
• Suitable pregnancy & lactating. 

Post treatment EVY PROFESSIONAL 

For the 72 hours after treatment, you must follow these recommendations:

• No washing or wetting hair 
• No clipping or tying hair 
• No sunnies on top of head
• No use of products such as hairspray
• No hats
• No activities which will cause the hair to have sea water spray onto hair (boating, beach walk in windy conditions etc)
• No scalp sweating therefore minimal or no exercise
• No colour or chemical services for 10 days minimum before & 14 days 
• No swimming in chlorine or salt water for minimum 14 days
• No General Anaesthetics for minimum 10 days after
• Must use a shower cap in shower

Important additional notes:

• Please note if you choose not to wash your hair after 72 hours you still must adhere to the above post care, therefore it is best to wash your hair and enjoy your straightened hair once the 72hrs has elapsed.
• If the hair is accidentally wet then blow-dry it and iron if necessary to make it look as it did prior to wetting. If hair changes from sleep etc. then iron it smooth again
• Please note if you choose not to wash your hair after 72 hours you still must adhere to the above post care, therefore it is best to wash your hair and enjoy your straightened hair once the 72 hours has elapsed.
