3.0 out of 5 starsOverpriced fake synthetic oil

If you read the data sheets on this, it is comprised of groups 1 2 and 3 oils. Those are all conventional!! Castrol was the first to make fake synthetics. Mobil 1 sued them, however the courts said its fine to market any oil as synthetic. They of course don't care about Americans. Then if you go on Castrols website. They recommend 3000 mile oil change intervals with this. Thats a whole lot less than Mobil 1, which rates super synthetic at 7500, M1 at 10k then ep and ap 15k and 20k.

Any oil with the API seal is good for 3000 miles!! You can just go with the cheapest Walmart supertech.

I am not some Mobil 1 super fan, however if you read Valvoline, Pennzoil, Castrol oils web pages, they all recommend 3000 mile oil changes!! If their oil is so great, why doesn't it last?

I bought this oil because it was cheaper than Mobil 1, but after doing some research won't buy again.

GTX HIGH MILEAGE MOTOR OIL

Helps Prevent Emission System Failure

Castrol® GTX® High Mileage motor oil is the leading consumer high miles brand. You won't need to worry about using a high mileage oil or synthetic because this is both. It's a synthetic blend engine oil that helps extend the life of your engine by protecting against sludge, wear and burn-off and also liquid engineered to protect your emission system. One of the leading causes of 'check engine' lights coming on in high mileage cars is actually catalytic converter failure, which can be caused by phosphorous in engine oil. While phosphorous is present in all engine oils for its ability to reduce wear, it is effectively poisonous to catalytic converters.

Castrol GTX High Mileage Motor Oil is liquid engineered with Phosphorous Replacement Technology to replace some of the phosphorous with an advanced additive that maintains robust wear protection. When you want to extend the life of your high mileage engine and emission system, there is no better choice than Castrol GTX High Mileage Motor Oil.

What are the benefits of castrol GTX HIGH MILEAGE?

  • Phosphorus Replacement Technology to help extend the life of the emission system

* Based on API and ACEA volatility specifications
