The Valentine’s Day broadcast of Chicks On The Right was cut short after Miriam Weaver suffered a mini-stroke on-air, causing huge concern among viewers. Thankfully, the host recovered and returned later in the day to clarify the terrifying situation.

Miriam Weaver, aka Mock, certainly had an eventful Valentine’s Day 2022.

Rather than a relaxing day at home, the 52-year-old spent her morning at the hospital after she suffered a TIA (transient ischemic attack), also known as a mini-stroke, during the Chicks On The Right show on Monday.

Thankfully, Weaver was well enough to alert her husband and, as it was on stream, co-host Amy Jo Clark was live and would have been able to contact emergency services if required.

The pair have always been honest with fans – so Weaver recalled her experience in detail. We’re pleased to say her Valentine’s Day plans weren’t ruined – she wasn’t going to cancel her dinner plans!

What happened to Mock?

While chatting about the Super Bowl LVI half-time show, Weaver uttered a groaning sound at odds with her normal self. After realising she had no control over her speech and wasn’t able to express herself properly, Weaver and Clark both became extremely concerned, with the former trying to comprehend her situation.

After a few seconds, it appears her speech recovered slightly as she was able to explain: “I think I’m having a stroke” to Clark – and viewers – before running to her husband, Ron.

Although the circumstances were alarming, the fact she was able to notify her family meant the situation could be dealt with immediately.

Miriam Weaver opens up about stroke on Chicks On The Right

Clark provided Facebook updates while Weaver was being treated, revealing her CT scans showed normal results and she would be released from hospital in a few hours.

Later that afternoon, the pair went back on-air with Weaver clarifying it was indeed a stroke, as she had predicted. She confirmed it was a mini-stroke (TIA), a temporary period of symptoms similar to those of a stroke such as weakness in the face and slurred speech. They only last a few minutes and don’t result in permanent damage.

However, it can serve as a warning of a stroke in the future so it’s important to report any symptoms, as per Mayo Clinic.

Weaver continued: “But the fact I was so quickly able to say – even though it wasn’t 100 per cent normal voice – ‘I think I’m having a stroke’ was actually a good sign because my speech recovered within 60 seconds.”

After alerting her husband, the host was in a state of panic but felt relieved she was able to speak and move largely as normal. The 52-year-old even corrected Ron about her age while he was speaking to medical professionals!

Her CT and MRI scans found nothing abnormal, with doctors confirming the incident was a mini-stroke that wouldn’t leave apparent lasting damage.

UPDATE:

Fans will be happy to hear that the host “felt pretty normal” the next day.

Weaver told The Focus: ” I have always been hyper attuned to anything that doesn’t feel quite right in my body, and am definitely a person who doesn’t blow off check-ups or screenings.  I’m glad I was at least somewhat aware of the signs to look for in a stroke, and felt certain immediately that was what was happening.”

We hope she is on the road to full recovery soon!
