James Charles is one of the top beauty influencers with over 17 million YouTube subscribers and 16 million Instagram followers. James Charles rise to fame began when he started his YouTube channel in 2016. According to Allure, he racked in over 400,000 subscribers in just a few months and later that year landed his first collab with CoverGirl in Oct 2016. At just 17 years old, he became CoverGirl’s first male brand ambassador. In 2018, he landed another major collab with cult-favorite beauty brand Morphe. James Charles collaborated with Morphe to create The Sister Collection. (James Charles calls his fans “sisters.”) The Sister Collection features a set of 13 makeup brushes and a 39-pan eyeshadow palette dubbed The James Charles Palette. Here’s our favorite James Charles palette looks.

1. Golden Hour

@kenziemacbrown

Kenzie uses the colors Canvas, Bee, Skip, 518, Artistry, and Flashback to create this fabulous sunset look that really brings out her eye color. She recommends using an eyeshadow primer for pigments and uses a glitter glue for the metallic color Artistry. While the colors are incredibly pigmented, Kenzie says that it does take a little patience to blend them seamlessly.

2. Ravishing Rainbow

Kelly Marie Beauty

Kelly Marie uses the colors Escape, Rusted, 518, Skip, Playground, Cola, Social Blade, Daddy, Bee, and Canvas to craft this incredibly vibrant rainbow eye look. She mentions that, “when it comes to the pressed pigments you have to press them on before blending.” This is also why she recommends always using an eye primer before going in with the shadow for even more color payoff.

3. Contrasting Smokey Eye

@moodygeee

Moody G goes in with the Morphe Eyelid primer on one eye and the LA girl pro-concealer on the other before applying the colors Tune, Bee, 518, Rusted, Love That, Escape, Cola, Flashback, and Hello when trying out the James Charles palette. Her creativity is next level as she mixes warm and cool tones to create this unique, bright look. She likes the palette but wishes it were a bit smaller for travel.

@tammiclarke

Tammi uses the PLouise base and the Revolution Pro Eye Elements Eye Primer on separate eyes before going in with the colors Cola, Single, Skip, Bee, and Artistry. She suggests using a method where you start with the darkest color you want to use and then lighten up as you go in order to create a more blended, yet bright look. Doesn’t it just make her skin glow?

5. Pretty Purples

@nymatang

Nyma begins with the Fenty Beauty eye primer as a base to her multidimensional purple look. She uses the colors Escape, Single, Skip, and Artistry to add depth to this monochromatic application. To keep an opaque application, Nyma recommends stamping in the color and to avoid blending with windshield wiper motions.

6. Fire and Ice

@brittanybearmakeup

Brittany applies concealer all over her eyes before creating this fabulous two-toned look. She uses Playground, Cola, Escape, and Halo for her blue eye and Bee, 518, You’re Kidding, and Ring Light for her orange eye. After testing, Brittany determined that the blues and purples in the palette were more pigmented whereas the orange and red tones needed a bit more layering. Which side is your favorite?

7. Three Thrilling Tutorials

@vadamorrison

Vada started off using Urban Decay Primer Potion on one eye and no primer on the other eye before using the colors Canvas, Code James, Mary, No Beans, and Face for an everyday, natural look. Vada then went on to create two different, more vibrant eyes. For her red eye look she used Canvas, Mary, Love That, Escape, Single, Shook, and Ring Light. Her green look consisted of Tune, Bee, Playground, Social Blade, Hello, Spooky, A capella, Cola, and Ring Light. Thanks to Vada, you really get a sense for all of the colors in the palette and their performance.

8. Green Goddess

@kinkysweat

Alicia uses the colors Daddy, Social Blade, Bee, Guac, Ring Light, Cape Cod, and So Good to create this sparkling green smokey eye. After many tries, Alicia decided that the PLouise base was the best for color payoff. She also used the color Face as a highlighter on her cheekbones. The video also includes a demo of the rusty reds in the palette so be sure to check out her second eyeshadow look!

Martina primed her eyes with concealer before going into the colors Bee, Social Blade, Playground, Cola, Flashback, and Ring Light for this opaque blue and green look. Like Alicia, Martina also tried the color Face as a highlighter on her cheekbones. She was really happy with the color payoff and blend of all colors. You look great, Martina!

10. Three Looks, One Versatile Palette

Classically Cate

Cate hits us with three looks in this review, each finished product more beautiful than the next. She uses So Good, Punch Me, 10% Off, and Brother for the first look creating a natural look with a pop of color on the lower lashline. Then she tries Artistry, Single, and Escape for the second bright purple look. Lastly, Cate uses Bee, Rusted, You’re Kidding, and Face for the final orange smokey eye. Cate calls the palette “a perfect balance of neutrals and pops of color” and very easy to blend.
