Do Ink Master canvases get their tattoos finished

level 1

When a tattoo is left unfinished on the show does it get finished off the show? Also, are mistakes in the tattoos corrected off the show, by the show?

level 2

This was one of my concerns before I got there. I asked about it and they said what I walk out with is what I have. They were not responsible for any costs to fix/remove/cover up the tattoo.

WHY IS THE REPLY BUTTON GREEN?

EDIT: AND THE EDIT BUTTON RED?

level 2

This has been my biggest question so far.

level 1

Is Dave Navarro a bigger douchebag then he seems??

level 2

He was actually really sweet. I didn't get to have a sit down conversation with him but for the few minutes I did talk to him he was very polite and actually complimented some of my other work. All three of them are a lot smaller than I expected though.

level 2

I came to ask this... and this alone. He seems like a gigantic, humongous, enormous douchebag.

level 1

So, why did you choose to go on the show? Also, did you get to choose the style and have some input about the design? As a moderately tattooed person I find the concept of a free tattoo frightening.

level 2

I chose to go on the show because why not? As long as I wasn't expected to get anything derogatory or something that was going to embarass myself or my family I was on board with whatever they wanted to do. The design was completely up to me but I knew before hand that it had to include an eagle and a flag. I already have some tattoos to represent my service so I didn't really know what else I could have gotten. I also knew that it was a competition and I definitely did not want someone to miss out on $100,000 because of me. It was really a collabrative process. I gave her some ideas and she gave me some input and this was the design we came up with.

level 2

you can see the application at inkmaster.spike.com , there are spots to tell them what style you would like, what color, everything. they also ask if you'd let the artist change your mind about the design.

level 1

Isn't that the one that was judged as being very bad?

level 2

I actually haven't seen the episode yet so I don't know how it was judged

level 1

Were you happy with the way it came out?

level 2

I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think what impressed me most was that this was her first time doing this style and I think she did and awesome job.

level 1

did they give you any other compensation other than the free tattoo? and how did you get "recruited" to do it?

level 2

My best friend (and daughter of another canvas on the same episode) called me a few days after my birthday and left me a message urging me to call her back immediately. I did so and she told me hoe she and here dad signed up to be on the show and were offered spots. Her dad is also a Navy veteran and they asked him if he knew anyone else who might be interested in doing the episode. He gave them my name and they gave them the number they could be reached at to give to me. THe whole time I was talking to the producer I was waiting for a tell tale sign that this was a scam like asking for my social or credit card number. We emailed and spoke on the phone for about a month leading up to the taping. At one point I said there was no way I could do it because I couldn't afford to make it to NY because I live in NC. They really wanted some more female veterans so they offered to fly me up. I still thought this whole thing was a dream up until I checked in for my flight and they actually had a ticket waiting for me.

level 1

Why would you put your trust in an artist that only has a certain amount of time to complete the work? I would think rushing an artist is asking for disaster. Also, when they change the styles up from what an artist is used to, doesnt that make you nervous as well?

Do canvases on Ink Master get their tattoos fixed?

Nope. While an episode of Tattoo Nightmares featured someone from Ink Master getting a tattoo fixed, that's not typical. Spike has told TV critic Rob Owen that “the reality is, not everyone leaves the show happy–this is part of the construct of the show that everyone agreed to at the outset.”

Are the tattoos in Ink Master permanent?

The series will be taking over the Huntington Beach beachfront, where all-star contestants Holli Marie and Hiram Casas will give attendees free, permanent tattoos from a predetermined menu of options.

Does Ink Master pay for removal?

I asked about it and they said what I walk out with is what I have. They were not responsible for any costs to fix/remove/cover up the tattoo." The application to be a human canvas also clearly states that there will be no monetary compensation for being on the show.

Did they use real skulls on Ink Master?

Episode Info The artists engrave human skulls using their tattoo skills; the artists must make tattoos of DC Comics characters.
