Always try to keep your new ear piercing free from soap, perfumes and hair products, and take care when brushing your hair, exercising, playing sports, talking on your phone, sleeping or wearing headphones. We suggest that you avoid swimming for 24 hours after your piercing and, thereafter, make sure you clean your ears with your Claire's Ear After Care Lotion.

A new piercing is exciting and we know you will want to try new styles soon. However, it is important to give your ears time to heal before changing your ear piercing.

Lobe Piercing: If you are using Standard After Care Lotion, it is usually necessary to wait 6 weeks before changing your earrings. With Rapid™After Care Cleanser you can usually change your earrings after 3 weeks.

Cartilage Piercing: For cartilage, you will need to leave your earring in for at least 12 weeks with our Standard After Care Lotion. With the use of Rapid™ After Care Cleanser, you can usually change your cartilage piercing after 8 weeks.

Nose Piercing (select stores in the UK, EU & Quebec): Your new nose stud can be changed in as little as 6 weeks with Rapid™ After Care Lotion or 8 weeks with Standard After Care Lotion.

After piercing, it is normal for the area to feel hot and maybe a little sore. If you have any swelling, redness or find the piercing painful after 24 hours, please seek medical advice immediately without removing your ear piercing.

When it comes to ear piercing, we know you have questions. We get asked these questions frequently, so much so we decided to put them all in one easy to find spot. Now, no matter what your question about piercing is, from "does it hurt?" to "how do I treat my piercing after?", we've got you covered. One last question, did you know Claire's also offers diamond ear piercing? You didn't? Now you do!

Do you tip an ear piercer?

If your piercer did a good job, show your appreciation with a healthy tip. A minimum of 20% is typically expected nowadays (inflation sucks, but it is what it is), and more if your piercer did an exceptional job.

How much do you tip ear piercers?

Something in the region of 15 to 20% of the total cost (piercing + jewelry) should be enough. If you feel like they did an extra special job, then you might want to up this to a 25 to 30% tip. For example, getting a lobe pierced might cost $20, plus $10 for jewelry. A 15% tip = $4.50.
