Cocoa Recipes

This is many of my favorite things in one- peppermint, coffee, milk, vanilla and chocolate!! Mmmm so, so good!

It’s so perfect to drink during the holiday season, especially when the temperatures dip into fireplace weather!

Peppermint Mocha Cocoa is about as fitting to drink during the holidays as Tiramisu Eggnog Cocktail.

So, go get your fuzzy socks and let’s make this yummy hot chocolate drink a.s.a.p.!

It just may be better than Starbucks but, I KNOW it’s CHEAPER and you’ll get it much FASTER too!!

I get it, I like Starbucks too but, I just can’t justify paying $5 for a peppermint mocha, especially when I can make one myself that is just as good!!

You can make this drink Keto by not adding sugar and omitting the whipped cream although I do list it as optional. However, it’s best served with Chocolate-dipped Amaretto Biscotti!

What’s great about making a Peppermint Mocha drink yourself is that YOU CAN CONTROL THE SUGAR and quality of ingredients.

That’s so important to the taste of the drink and its level of deliciousness!

Add Liqueur (Optional)

Make this an adult beverage by adding liqueur. Here are some liqueur suggestions:

  • Sambuca
  • Kahlua
  • Godiva

Sambuca is one I suggest if you like the taste of anise! Sambuca is a popular Italian anise-flavored liqueur. It’d taste phenomenal in it.

You may also add Kalua (coffee liqueur) or Godiva Chocolate Liqueur. That would VERY tasty! If adding liqueur, you may omit the extracts and/or sugar. It’s up to you.

Therefore, this drink is versatile because it can be made into an adult beverage by adding liqueur or it can be made Keto by not adding whipped cream or sugar and using a sugar substitute.

Your kids can make this drink independently, if they’re old enough to use the stove. However, they can warm up the milk in the microwave too.

What’s the difference between cocoa and hot chocolate?

Here’s the simple difference. Cocoa is made with cocoa powder. Hot chocolate is made with chocolate pieces that are melted with hot milk unless you’re using a hot chocolate powder. However, cocoa and hot chocolate are often used interchangeably.
