This is a premiere game in the storied tradition of high school football in the state of Texas. The 2021 UIL 5A Division II champion South Oak Cliff Bears will face 6A Division I state finalist Duncanville at John Kincaide Stadium in Dallas on Saturday. South Oak Cliff is in the southern part of Dallas while Duncanville is a city just southwest of Dallas. These two are Texas football powerhouses with South Oak Cliff being ranked first and Duncanville being ranked third in the entire state. This could be the game of the year in Texas high school football and it's not even September yet.

They're starting off with blank slates heading into this game. The Bears only lost one game last season with a 15-1 record on their way to a 5A DII championship. The only game they lost was in the opener against Duncanville, giving this matchup an added element of spice.

The Panthers held a 42-13 win in the third ultimately winning 42-27. With a game closer to home, look for South Oak Cliff to come back with a vengeance for revenge.

The Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes topped the host South Oak Cliff Bears football team by a final score of 23-10 in Saturday's non-league outing.

With the win, Duncanville improves its record to 1-0 on the season. The Panthers and Pantherettes host Jones (Orlando, FL) to confront the Fightin' Tigers in a non-league outing on Saturday, September 3. The Fightin' Tigers go into the outing with a record of 1-0. Jones won 29-19 in their recent non-league outing against Cocoa (Cocoa, FL)

With the loss, South Oak Cliff moves to 0-1 on the season. The Bears travel to Lancaster (Lancaster, TX) to confront the Tigers in a non-league outing on Friday, September 2. The Tigers go into the outing with a record of 1-0. Lancaster won 25-0 in their recent non-league outing against Skyline (Dallas, TX)

Three Dallas-area football teams will play on a national stage this upcoming season.

Duncanville, South Oak Cliff and Arlington Martin will have games broadcast on ESPN’s network in August, as part of the station’s High School Kickoff schedule.

Duncanville — the 6A Div. I state runner up in 2021 and MaxPreps’ No. 16 team in the country — will play reigning 5A Div. II state champion South Oak Cliff on Aug. 27 at Dallas ISD’s Kincaide Stadium. That game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Duncanville features four players on The Dallas Morning News’ top 100 recruits list for the class of 2023, led by safety Deldrick Madison (No. 14 overall). South Oak Cliff has an area-best seven players, led by safety Malik Muhammad (No. 5). Duncanville beat South Oak Cliff 42-27 in September last season, though the latter rattled off 15 consecutive wins en route to Dallas ISD’s first recognized football state title since 1958.

Arlington Martin, which features five-star cornerback recruit Javien Toviano (No. 2 on The News’ top 100), will play Lake Travis at Choctaw Stadium on Aug. 25. That game will be played on ESPNU. Lake Travis (12-3) lost to eventual 6A Div. II state champion Galena Park North Shore in the state semifinals last winter, while Martin (9-3) lost to Lewisville in the area round of the playoffs.

Five other games will be played as part of the network’s schedule: Mill Creek (Ga.) vs. Northcross (Ga.); St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) vs. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.); Los Alamitos (Calif.) vs. American Heritage (Fla.), Lipscomb Academy (Tenn.) vs. Thompson (Ala.), and Sant Xavier (Ohio) vs. Loyola Academy (Ill.).
