Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 8 remaster will bring the classic (and frequently overlooked) role-playing game to modern platforms later this year, giving the game a fresh, high-definition coat of paint. Show To drill that point home, on Tuesday, Square Enix gave Final Fantasy fans a little taste of what to expect with Final Fantasy 8 Remastered — and breathed new life into a classic FF8 meme in the process. That brief video is, of course, a reference to the “You’re the best looking guy here” meme that pokes fun at Squall’s low-res representation in the PlayStation original. The meme contrasts protagonist Rinoa Heartily telling Squall Leonhart how handsome he is, and a close-up of our hero’s extremely distorted mess of a pixelated face.  Final Fantasy 8 tells the story of a military invasion of the Dukedom of Dollet and the mercenary force SeeD that’s hired to defend it. SeeD soldier Squall, resistance fighter Rinoa, and their friends are pulled into war and must ultimately save the world. It gets pretty weird from there. Final Fantasy 8 Remastered will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC and Xbox One in 2019. The remaster was officially announced at E3 2019. Final Fantasy VIII RemasterOn June 11th, 2019, Imgur user cowardlypastry posted the pixelated Squall face next to an image from the upcoming Final Fantasy VIII remaster with a You vs. the Guy She Told You Not to Worry About caption (shown below). On August 13th, the @FinalFantasy Twitter account tweeted a video of the scene from the remaster, which zooms in on Squall's face after being told "You're the best looking guy here" (shown below). Within 48 hours, the video gained over 1.4 million views, 47,600 likes and 14,800 retweets.
