Simply bring in your pool water to calculate the chemicals you need to keep your pool in the best condition. How do I get a water sample for my pool?To take a sample of water sufficient for all tests being performed, rinse out a clean plastic bottle that will hold 8 to 12 ounces of the water to be tested. Rinse the cap off too. Then, immerse the container bottom-side up into the water to about elbow depth (about 18").
Can you test pool water yourself?Using Test Strips
Take your water sample and quickly drip one, dry strip into the water. Hold it still in the air for about 15 seconds (do not shake off the excess water). Then match up the colours of the strip to the back of the bottle to get your readings.
How often should pool water be tested? This can lead to excessive chlorine levels which can damage blankets and pool equipment. Therefore, you should be testing your pool water's chlorine and pH levels every two weeks. Maintaining proper water chemistry will reduce the amount of work needed when you're ready to start swimming again.
How can I test my pool water without a test kit?Use a Color Chart to Determine the pH of Your Pool Water. All you have to do is compare the color of the water to the chart to test the pH levels of your pool water. The pH scale has numbers ranging from 0 to 14. The pH neutral level of pure water is 7.
