Check your undertone

Whenever you are choosing a colour to suit you, whether it be a new lipstick or a hair colour, you must first check what your undertone is.

Skin tone and undertone are not the same thing, as skin tone can change over time such as when you get tanned, while undertones remain constant.

A quick way to check your undertone is to check the veins on your wrist. Green veins indicate warm-toned so warm colours will look better on you while purplish blue veins indicate cool-toned which means icy hues will suit you best.

If you see both colours, you’re neutral, which means everything will look good on you. How lucky!

Examine in the sunlight

A good tip is to take your chosen hair colour out into the sunlight to see how it really looks, as hair colours can look very different in indoor lighting.

It can be quite shocking to pick a colour only to realise that it looks completely different than what you had imagined.
