Full Colour and an omnibus in size comparable to a DC or Marvel omni. Some manga lose their charm when they are converted from Black and white to colour, but with the content within this book, much like Fist of the North Star, the full colour just adds to what is on the page.

highly recommend. Bought this thru Book Depository UK at a great price and like walways it arrived well in advance of the ETA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Screams Quality! A must buy

This amazing collectors book might seem expensive, but you can safely buy without any fear of regret as it's worth every penny. This book is huge, really huge and probably too heavy to hold, you'll need to sit it on your lap or a table to actually read it. The cover is thick, heavy and feels very durable it's beautifully decorated and the additional embossed parts are a nice detail. The cover is also protected by a sleeve, with different art inside and out, with the inside folding out to be used us a panoramic poster if you so wish. The pages inside are made of quality almost photo-like paper with a slightly glossy finish. Best of all, the art which is already gorgeous is now in full color throughout the entire book and it looks absolutely stunning.

This book contains volumes 1-4 of the original manga and is packed to the brim with extras including full page art and extensive authors notes and illustrations of the characters including the original concepts, alternative designs, back stories and more; even some great characters that sadly never made the cast list. If that's not enough to convince you then there's an entire bonus chapter entitled "Cosplay of the Dead"!

If you have no idea what HSOTD is then it's like a Manga version of a George A Romero film, except with more action and more boobs! The plot is basically the same as any other great zombie film, except this one is told from the perspective of survivors from an attack on a high school as they make the journey to find out the fate their parents. You should expect plenty of scares, gore, action and an absurd amount of fan service - you wont be disappointed. HSOTD is much more than that though, it has some really interesting and sometimes disturbing dark characters and really gets to explore their humanity for better or worse as they are faced with some tough decisions and come to terms with who they really are. The art and character design is among the best I've ever seen in a manga, and the girls in particular are all incredibly sexy and constantly teasing, whether they are getting their clothes ripped in battle or randomly fondling each other for no apparent reason! This fan service, which the series is known for, is so well done though that its more provocative than sleazy and wont get in the way too much if that's not your thing. If you can't stomach gore and violence or are at school yourself then you you probably should avoid, but for everyone else I can't recommend this enough, even if you are not a big manga fan you should definitely check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the DVD so just had to get this book

Superb! Loved the DVD so just had to get this book. Very glad I did. Brilliantly produced, in full colour, with loads of background info about the characters. It's a very big book, as is Vol. 2 (which I'd also recommend) but worth finding a space on your bookshelf for. Printed in traditional manga style i.e. read from back to front, it takes a little while to get used to at first, but stick with it. If you're a fan of HotD, it's a great addition to your collection. Five stars!

I bought this book cause it's compendium of first 4 volumes. It wasn't good advertising that. it's a must if you like fan service and nice color. I like so much finally an high quality texture in a book. I read someone told it loses some detail but I didn't see it expect for some nude scenes. you should not expect an easily transport or manage with huge weight. You got in exchange bigger picture!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful edition!!

I absolutely loved this edition. I was slightly sceptical about how the colouring would be, but it worked out perfectly. The book is just slightly smaller than A4 (much bigger than your average manga volume), with high quality pages and colouring, and covers up until Act 17. For those familiar with the anime, that's roughly where it ends. It's hardcover and has many illustrations inside, and includes an extra story right at the end.
For those unfamiliar with the story, I particularly recommend it to fans of zombie apocalypse and survival stories, but with a lot of slightly erotic content (nothing overly explicit, but well enough into the genre to get a WARNING! label).
Very glad I got my hands on this, I love it!!
