The meta-owned messaging app has always kept the privacy of users on priority and offered several features to make people feel safe. One of the privacy features is the block option. You can block any number or saved contact in your WhatsApp list to prevent them from sending any messages to us.

Once you block users, they won't be able to see any of your status updates, online status and even the profile picture. You can immediately block the contact whom you don't want to talk to or share your WhatsApp updates with. To block any contact, one just needs to go to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Blocked contacts > Add contact. Now, you can search for the contact you want to block and add it to your block list.

If you want to block unsaved contact or any other account, then open the chat window of the contact you want to block > tap on three dots to view contact option > more > block > confirm.

But what if someone has blocked you on WhatsApp? Be it your best friend, family member or an angry partner? There is no feature to check if a contact has blocked you. Here are five easy tips that can help you find out if you have been blocked on WhatsApp by someone.

How to check if someone blocked you on WhatsApp

- Check for Last seen: If you are not able to see the Online status or the Last Seen of the contact, then you are blocked. However, you might soon not be able to find out with this method considering WhatsApp is planning to
add a new privacy setting that will allow people to hide Online status. This feature is yet to be released.

- Check Status and Profile photo: If you are not able to see the profile photo and status of your contact, then the user has blocked you. But, do keep in mind that the app also offers an option to hide profile photo from select contacts. The same goes for Status as well. Don't worry, there are other ways too to find out.

- Send Message: Try to send a message to the contact if you don't get a double tick, then your message is not delivered. If the message is not delivered even after a few hours, then the contact has blocked you.

- Call the contact: Try to call the contact. If the calling status doesn't change to 'Ringing,' then you are blocked.

- Create a WhatsApp group: Try to create a WhatsApp group with the contact. If the contact has blocked you then you won't be able to add the person to the group.

Check Last Seen

If you suspect that someone has blocked you, go to their chat window and check their last seen or online status. If you are blocked, then here you will not see the last seen and online status.

Check Profile Picture

The profile picture of a person is also not showing. Although it may happen that that contact has removed his DP, if the DP is not visible for a long time, then it might be possible that the person has blocked you.

Check Blue Tick on the message

WhatsApp’s Blue Tick feature has made it easy. Message any person you suspect has blocked you and check if the message is delivered. Also, blue tick comes or not. If a single tick appears on your message, then understand that you have been blocked by that person.

Try WhatsApp Call

You can also check if that person has blocked you by making a WhatsApp call. If the call is connected, then you are not blocked. At the same time if the call is not connected then you are blocked.

Group Test:

Create a group and add some friends to it. Now add the person you doubt. If you have been blocked by that person, then you will get a message saying you don’t have the authorization to add them.

Account Delete

If you feel that that contact has deleted the account, then go to the Chat option of WhatsApp to clear this confusion. Now click on the blank DP of that person. If options like Message and Call are showing, then the account has not been closed. But if the invite is being written, then the account has been deleted.
