Copying the YouTube description just so you don't have to deal with an extra tab  Using any character (I chose engineer because he's my personal favorite), get to Stage 5. This is the "looping stage" right after the Abyssal Depths. This works on any difficulty, and playing on Drizzle/Easy will make this considerably easier. Once you're on Stage 5, look for the "meteorites" or rocks that fly towards you (or in case of the Engineer, towards his turrets.) Track down where those are coming from, and once you've located the hermit crab, shoot it. (Or use melee. Sometimes they'll pop out of the ground on their own, other times they'll need some "forceful persuasion". Chase them off of the nearest cliff/ledge, but don't damage them any more; let them kill themselves. TL;DR 1: Get to Stage 5 2: Find Hermit crabs 3: Damage them 4: Chase them off a cliff 5: Watch them disappear/die TIPS: - Don't pick up any passive items that deal damage. The Unstable Tesla Coil, for example, makes it nearly impossible to get near the Hermit Crabs without killing them. - Make sure you can see the Hermit Crabs die/despawn. Kills (on my Xbox) didn't count unless I stuck around for a couple seconds and watched them die. - If you're playing as the engineer, either refrain from using your turrets, or place them far enough away that they don't kill the hermit crabs. - Play on Drizzle, and rush to Stage 5. That way you have plenty of time before the game becomes too difficult and hectic. How to complete the Demon and the Crabs challengeAs the instructions indicate, Risk of Rain 2 players need to chase 20 hermit crabs off the edge of the map to complete the Demon and the Crabs challenge. It's not a very difficult task to accomplish, especially considering that the challenge can be completed across multiple runs. Despite the simple nature of the challenge, a lot of players seem to be getting hung up on which creatures the hermit crabs actually are. Generally encountered toward the more difficult end of the spectrum, these enemies tend to burrow themselves into the ground before lobbing mortar-like projectiles at the hero. They'll only uproot themselves when the player draws near, but when they do, they'll make a mad dash to get away, usually in the direction exactly opposite the survivor. Take that opportunity to scare them off the map's edge. The Gesture of the Drowned is one of five current Lunar items players can use to complete the Moon Worshipper challenge. If players manage to get 20 hermit crabs to scurry off the map toward their deaths, they'll unlock the rare and powerful item known as Gesture of the Drowned. One of five Lunar items in the current build of the game, this item reduces all Equipment cooldown by 50 percent and increases the buff by 50 percent per stack. However, the Gesture of the Drowned also forces the survivor's equipment to activate automatically the moment its cooldown period ends.
