Requirements to capture Arceus in Pokémon Legends Arceus

Arceus is a unique Pokémon, but not just any Pokémon. In Pokémon Legends Arceus we have seen how Game Freak has taken us to a time several hundred years before the present day to explain the vicissitudes of space and time, the origin of the word Sinnoh and how Palkia and Dialga have played a fundamental role in the origin of the Pokémon universe. All this with a root, Arceus, the first existing Pokémon and creator of the saga's world.

How to get Arceus in Pokémon Legends Arceus: all requirements

The capture of Arceus is the last quest (main mission) of the game. To access it, it is necessary to have completed a large part of the endgame and, more specifically, Quest 26: you need the Azure Flute.

  • Obtain the Azure Flute (after completing Quest 26, the mission of Giratina and Volo, one of the hardest confrontations of the saga).
  • Capture all 237 of Hisui's main Pokémon.
  • You have to capture them, it's not enough to register them.
  • You don't need to capture Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai or Shaymin. You can do these quests whenever you want (if you capture them you will have 241, Arceus as final Pokémon, 242 out of 242).

How to battle Arceus in Pokémon Legends Arceus: recommendations

So, we understand that you have already seen the end credits and are doing the Endgame-derived Quests. It is in the Coronet Highlands where it is found Arceus. You have to climb to the top of Mount Coronet and, where the remains of the Spear Pillar lie, summon Arceus.

How do you trigger Arceus event legends arceus?

The battle against Arceus is difficult, but not impossible. It will start like the encounters against Noble Pokémon, with real action and a stance bar that you will have to break with Balms to finally face him in a traditional turn-based battle.

We leave you the following recommendations:

  • Save the game before summoning Arceus with the Azure Flute, thus avoiding having to climb Mount Coronet again.
  • Pay attention to the ZL button to fix the camera and launch the Balms with ZR (leave it pressed for a few tenths of a second to charge the launch).
  • Dodge the light rings by pressing B when they are about to graze you.
  • Don't be in a hurry: in five hits you'll be K.O. It's better to take a little longer and maintain a defensive position, gradually wounding Arceus.
  • When you can knock it out, quickly cast a Pokémon to weaken it and leave it confused for a few seconds. This is when you should throw Balms left and right.

How to change Arceus' type

Once you have captured Arceus, you can change its elemental type. Although it is normal, Arceus can adopt any of the 18 elemental types using the Legend Playe that you have acquired during your adventure in Pokémon Legends Arceus. If you want it to be a Dragon type, use the Dragon Plate from the item inventory.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl are available in physical and digital (eShop) formats for Nintendo Switch.

Since launch in November 2021, fans have been heading back to the Sinnoh region in the Switch versions of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for the first time since the Nintendo DS originals, and more recently they've been able to explore the region's past in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, too. Sinnoh is famous for many things, but the main one is the sheer number of legendary Pokémon in the generation 4 games.

While plenty of them are easy to catch, there’s one that has alluded players for years. This is the Alpha Pokémon Arceus. Said to be the creator of the Pokémon world, it’s among the rarest Pokémon in the entire franchise.

Unfortunately, just like the original games, there is no way to catch Arceus in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl... that is unless you own Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Both Arceus and Darkrai were made accessible in the game on 15th March via update 1.3.0.

  • Pokémon's Diamond And Pearl Remakes Have Been Updated To Version 1.3.0, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Despite Arceus being the main legendary of the Sinnoh region, as well as being the final Pokémon in the National PokeDex, there’s no way to catch the Pokémon during the course of normal gameplay. You can transfer one from Pokémon Home, of course, although if you don’t have an Arceus from a previous event, you’re out of luck.

As speculated prior to release, you'll need a Pokémon Legends: Arceus save file on your Switch to be able to catch the Alpha Pokémon.

In order to catch Arceus, you must have completed all main missions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. You'll also need to have entered the Hall of Fame and be the proud owner of the National Dex in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl.

Assuming that has been accomplished, return to your bedroom where you can get the Azure Flute. Take this flute to the top of Mount Coronet and play it at Spear Pillar, where Arceus will appear and be ready to do battle. It's a good idea to bring lots of Poké Balls.

What about Darkrai?

While Arceus' catch method adds the Pokémon Legends requirement, the dream-eating Darkrai's catch method is identical to its DS counterpart.

You need to obtain the member Card, which you can get between the new moons, via the Mystery Gift feature. As with Arceus, you'll need to have beaten the Elite Four and the Champion of Sinnoh to enter the Hall of Fame and own that sweet, sweet expanded Pokédex.

Not had your fill of awesome rare Pokémon? There are plenty of other legendary Pokémon for you to collect in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, so fill your boots. Or Balls. Poké Balls, that is. Goodness me, get your minds out of the gutter!
